I need high volts for nice clocks, E0 owners needs lower volts, but they top out usually becouse of too high temps

Im gonna get this RAM; Corsair TWIN2X4096-8500c5 to try to get my Q827Axxx past 460fsb-wall. (my ram dont like it now)
    specs:
    1066Mhz//5-5-5-18@1.8
    1140Mhz//5-5-5-15@2.1 (tested bij ASUS http://www.corsair.com/testreports/r...tner_id=238134 - These r the 4th mem)

Only nice ram on stock in local store, are these good? Could not find true 1.8v 1066 555-15 dimms out here...

True, the difference is sometimes about 5C or even more (@ same volts), but as it was already mentioned it's quite logical. The newer stepping probably wastes less energy by consuming and outputting as heat same energy (thus same clocks & same temperatures) at lower volts. But that's just my humble theory.

Just bought the E8400 this week and made a quick overclock so far.

4.02Ghz @ 1.29Vcore (disregard the voltages in Speedfan)
    ALL AIRCOOLED

    I'm hoping to gun for around 4.5 - 4.6. =)

That is what's been plaguing my mind since I bought this processor.

I'm recently still running on an old board (DFI INFINITY P965-S) which was
flashed to it's newest BIOS for 45nm compatibility. For that overclock, the
voltage in BIOS is 1.29, but during windows, cpu and speedfan, are at
    1.46-47.

Initially, when I increased the BIOS voltage to 1.21V, I was able to not only
boot the computer, but was also able to overclock it to a stable 3.81Ghz.
However, on cpu-z and speedfan, it tells me the voltages are at 1.36-37.

I recently created a thread earlier prior to posting these results explaining my
    dilenma regarding this situation.

Any more input is appreciated. =)

Got an E8500 E0 some time ago. Batch Q820A925, one of the earliest. VID 1.25V. Both sensors get stuck @ 36C (still way better than previous E8400 C0 with temps like 32/19 and 10C difference under load ).

    Currently running 506 x 8,5 = 4302, vcore under load 1.344V. Very hot compared to C0 8400.

Finally some time for LinX to do its job. Temps are insane though (~75C), and no Thermalright to be found anywhere around.
    Pics:

Just a quick testing so far.

It's a DFI board with 965 chipset. And CPU-Z isn't perfect. Looking at what Speedfan shows on most of voltages one can assume CPU-Z is wrong too.

Too many variables b/n you and him, and he wasn't comparing his cpu to other E0s but to C0 e8400 he had previously, so you data is really doesn't tell him or anyone else much. If you were to test a C0 cpu, then we'd be talking about something

Anyone tried ordering from Tankguys to Canada using google checkout???
Because when I do it I get a message in google checkout:

"TankGuys Computer Parts does not ship to this address via Google Checkout"

    I am in Toronto so...
    How can this be fixed?
Should I just try ordering through the website and not google checkout?

Managed to get Orthos small FFT's stress test stable for 18+min @ 500*8.5 (stopped the test, all temps stay below 44degrees C)

Tried 3 hours to get 500*9 working but could not boot windows no matter what, while 520*8.5 is able to boot vista and make screens but not stress the system...
EDIT: 500*8.5 is very stable and low temps after stressing with orthos entire night.

Anybody know why i cant go higher?

i dont know about that, but they do heat up more than a c0 with same volts, ie, add 0.15v to each and the e0 will run a good bit hotter. i have had about 10 c0 e8500 and 4 e0 e8500 and this has been true for all except my latest e0, which for some reason runs very cool - 52c at load 4650mhz, 1.38v. but the temp sensors are stuck at 39/41 in the down direction. but are accurate going up (checked with infra-red probe).

That's easily explained if the default voltage is lower on the E0's. The overclocked power used and hence temperature comes from the change or delta in the frequency and the voltage increase from stock squared.

this is awesome guys! I think I found the perfect combination of everyday usability 24/7 stable, and low power consumption!

    I got 4.014ghz (446fsb x 9) @ 1.29Vcore in Bios.

    my setup:
    e8400 (i believe is C0 stepping)

I'm ran orthos for about 6 hours since I took the pics...and still counting (about 8 hours now). So far so good, but max temps at 58C. At idle, I'm at 34C

Dude this is XS - go for 4.2ghz@ 1.328v-1.344v - you'll love the noticeably speed improvement and the energy costs will be neglible compared to everything else in your house.

BTW your chip can do it because it is an E0 stepping - cpu-z says so in your screenshots.
