Alright! Thanks everyone, you all have been a great help.

I managed to move my fsb-wall from to 455 to 488 by changing the fsb:mem divider from 1:1 to 5:6. My ram will then run at 11008Mhz which is very high imho for 800Mhz ram. I also did not get the 4.4Ghz stable but thats because i did not want to raise mem voltage.
I have OCZ Titanium XTC RAM and was wondering what the max voltage is +- cuz im running it on 2.3v now (1088Mhz stable) (set to auto in bios)
When on 800Mhz it needs 2.064 according to bios readings, but that might be the maximus pushing it. (it works on 1.8 too for 800MHz set manually)
My temps rise like crazy when oc-ed to 4.2+, @4Ghz max 42degrees, at 4.2+Ghz going to 100%load gets it INSTANTLY 49 degrees? (all apps, its not very high but the instant-thing didn't feel good to me.

Bottom question is: Is 2.4v too much for 800Mhz 1.8v ram? (going to buy 1066 this week anyway, but like oc-ing more then "just upgrading")

2.4 volts might be a little xtreme for the ram, I would get a fan on them

I would general agree with this as excessive voltage will kill ram faster than any thing else(i know from experience from Athlon XP days...), I'm not sure what your memory ICs are rated for, however it would behooveyou(like myself with other tings)to look in forums/topics that cover your memory if you don't already know the specs for the memory. This way you can save your self some RMA time.

I have ran my GSkills at 2.3 volts for months 24/7 no issues, I think heat will larger factor that volts on your dimms.

    Hey guys!

So I received my new Q9550, SLAWQ Batch # L818B188.
My Maximus Formula has Rampage Formula Bios Revision 308 and my ram is 4gb Mushkin Ascents PC-8500 2.10V

The max FSB I could get with everything to auto was 440, 445 = bluescreen, freeze, crash... I'm on air cooling (TRUE-120 + Scythe Ultra Kaze 3000RPM) but I'll buy my last watercooling pieces in some weeks.

I'd like to have it rollin at 3.6ghz or 3.8ghz, as stable as possible with the most performances for air cooling I can get for the moment.

EDIT : Updated - Tweaked it a bit myself looking at previous Grnfinger bios post...seems very stable, can it be tweaked more?

    this ram ok?

Found nice 8500 sticks from Corsair at local store:
    Name:XMS2-8500 /4096 MB /1066 MHz/DDR2/ Voltage 1,8 V //
    Latency 5-5-5-15-2T
tested 100% stable @1600Mhz according to Corsair.(no voltage mentioned)

They also have a 2.1V version, i guess this one is the better one because it runs on lower voltage at the same speed+timings?

I really want to get the ram today

yep, but I could not find it on Corsair's site, so i called the store to ask what voltage was stated on the dimms themself and it said 1.8v.
    Part number: xms2-8500 or TWIN2X4096-8500c5 i guess.
    http://www.mycom.nl/Products/View/Co...R2/198643.aspx

They are the 4th in this list of test rapports from ASUS:
    http://www.corsair.com/testreports/r...tner_id=238134

    seems they hit 555-18@1.8v and 555-15 @2.1...
Thats good enough to me but not realy fair to state what the store was stating about this ram.

The picture is wrong on mycom website, they are the modules with xms2 on it, not dominator dimms.

Maybe the tested at 1600Mhz stable is wrong information from the store, but the most important thing to me was that they were running on 1066Mhz and needed 1.8V for it. I wont go over 1200Mhz anyway.

I do believe you mean 1600 Rated FSB not 1600MHz, I would think Corsair would be the only ram company in business if that were true

    Almost there!

The 1600Mhz was a error on the website of the seller,
my ram is Corsair twin2xcms2-8500c5 and runs 55515@2.1v and 55518@1.8v both @1066Mhz. runs stable around 1200 so that should not be the problem.

Weird thing is: I can POST up to 572*7 but i cant get 500*7 stable in windows. (orthos, small)

I got to 572 by using settings that Zucker2 here post #3.
    http://www.xtremesystems.org/Forums/...hlight=barrier

I had to change RAM to 55518 1.8v to boot, but that crashed starting windows.

I think i should be able to get to +-4.6 stable as my bios is stable on 4.55Ghz on 1.3V. I just dont know which settings to change/raise.

    Please help

p.s will flashing maximus to rampage improve max OC/FSB?

Since I speak dutch I think i can clear this up for you guys. The memory is indeed only 1066mhz ram; it merely states its been fully tested to run on 1600mhz compatible motherboards (like our beloved 'rampages'), not that it runs at 1600mhz... That would be simply amazing and they would never sell it at a store as n00b-like as mycom...

    please help me

Okay, is there anyone here that has a E8400 E0 at FSB500+ that is willing to post all (relevant) bios settings? (or changes compared 2 defaults)

I'm really hungry for new things to try as i have the whole weekend to get my system stable on 4.5+Ghz.

I will post all Voltage readings from Bios@7*570 around 19:00, i hope someone knows what i need to change.

And is 1:1 better for MAX OC then 5:6? My system doesnt seem to like 1:1

Do you guys think that going to 2x2Gb instead of 4x1gb of ram would do any better for overclocking the CPU?

You need 1.4+ volts for 3.4GHz?
I think your chip will not scale very well and you might be at its limit
Anyways you have to much set to auto
I can post a nice 3.6GHz template but it was done with a quad core.
I'm sure you can adapt the settings

What would be a good NB voltage, I'm running 8GB of Mushkin XP2-6400 at 4-4-4-12 and 2.05 volts.

    @Askimo;
    Thanks for your help.
I've read alot about 4x1GB sticks stressing your NB more then 2x2GB, making it more unstable at high oc, but thats all i know. (i just got 2x2GB for that reason)

Im tweaking for weeks now and new ram xms2-8500c5 is running 1.8v@1080 55518 and cpu- and NBtemps are always lower then 42 degrees load so i must get 4.5+Ghz stable imo.
Having my bios stable @7*572 and not getting 7*470 stress-stable is not very cool

    @Hockster; 1.65 works for me i run 2x2gb 1080 2.1v 55515.

What might be the problem? Temps are always under 42 degrees C.
