A GTX 280 in a PCIe Gen1 x8? Go forget it. You won't get 50% of the card's normal performance. Even my 8800 GTS needed the full Gen1 x16.

I just saw a PCIe-x8 GEN1 slot can deliver 20Gb/sec. I am pretty sure that's going to be limiting the poor GTX.

I can still look what performance I can get out of it?

I'm getting closer to making an offer--possibly for a state-side build. Once I get a job (with luck, within a week), I can afford to spend the money. Sossaman looks niceeeee.

Almost asked for a price on all 20..
Wonder if he'd take $25.00 a cpu on the whole lot?
That would make for $90.00 for MB,2 cpu's and heatsinks..

I don't think so--I think he'd bottom off at $45/chip. And $90 or even $130 sounds nice. Offer at $25--bargain the price down lol.

Question: would a 20-pin PSU with a molex to P4 work with these? I could use my old PSU, though it's only 300W.

At the risk of sounding co*cky let me explain a little about business and people.
Money talks and BS walks. Remember that and you'll do well in life.
Always look at the other guy and try to think like him.
    Factors:
1)Not a cpu that people are knocking doors down for.
    2) Horsh*it economy
    3) a fast $500.00 in the hand vs weeks of hoping that they sell
    4) He's already dropped the price $5.00 which tells me that he's thinking he'll get stuck with them.
Add it all up and you understand how I think..

Well, make the offer! The worst he can say is "no". $25 sounds nice! And as I said--once I get a job, I'm willing to buy a new Sausageman rig!

Dave for Admin 2008! When it comes to choosing an evil overlord, I'd choose Dave! Anyways--I guess we'll all see how the seller responds. It's likely he picked up these chips cheap/free as it is, so $25-30 should be in range when you phrase it like that. Hell--snap the "How about all 20?" part later and he may further discount these babies! BTW--is the MB dual-channel? Will this kit work? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820134272
