NB Core is the chipset part voltage. The CPU's part is labled CPU-NB VID on the 790FX if i remember correct.
After hitting F9 on the main page, it is possible to modify the CPU's and NB's FID's and DID's (multis) but not the VID's.
So if you select an cpu voltage in the bios it will be applied as an offset to the default VID's of both CPU and NB. Problem is the NB has lower voltage limits than the cpu. I have this board since a few weeks and think it's only pro is that it is mATX. But for that form factor i'd expect an lower pwm/chipset temp at stock than 70°C (without an extra fan in an desktop cube case with two case fan's).

BTW: Have you found the vCore points for the DMM on the Asus board?
