no it isnt matey so all is cool, you just have to put up with a dead board for a couple of days/weeks.
you will need to head over and get yourself another bios chip from abit, it will come with bios v13 allready on there, heres the link,

once you get it, be careful when removing the other chip, stick this one in/boot/load optimized defaults and save, then go back into bios and set ram voltage (if needed)
the good thing here is that once you put the new chip in and boot, you could remove the new chip and stick the old one in while in windows and try and 'hotflahs' it to make it good again.
just dont try it under windows vista, seems to work in XP ok though, i have tried it and its fine
