Haha don't worry m8 we like to tease some of the newcomers around here Thanks for the link Brand spanking new BIOSes will never come from me though, it takes a lot of effort to write a BIOS from scratch, and thats something I can't do without a company hiring me. Theres all kinds of crazy tools involved with making a BIOS, compilers, decompilers, hex editing to some extent for quick hack fixes, etc.

Yes sir. It's not a good idea to flash when overclocked, so always remember to load defaults or even clear CMOS before you start. Most people will recommend doing the same after the flash.

Yeah. Good practice to reset to defaults before a BIOS flash unless you are ABSOLUTELY sure everything is 101% stable.

so the recommended bios to start from scratch would be the 703m?? i used the 901m in the first post.. but it corrupted my board for some reason.. maybe a bad flash..

That may be specific to your system, during the test period I done on the Pro version of that mBIOS there was no POST delay. Your link had some interesting stuff and I did find one application I hadn't seen before, but sadly it doesn't support BIOS files for the C2D family

Its highly subjective like you would expect, a BIOS that works well for one may not work as well for another and so forth. I would recommend trying 703m (its in the BIOS pack) and 1307m. Changelog can be found with 1307m, the changes I make to each BIOS are more or less the same.

A more recent version of IDA Pro could prove very useful best I could find was v4.9.

You can try compatible. Theory is it relaxes things, letting the BIOS actmore like it did before the option was put it.

Ahh, OK. I'll try it too.

    Thanks Axy.

EDIT: YAY! The stupid "CPU Fan Error" message is gone at last. There was no error, I just like to use Q-Fan on the "Turbo" setting so I can take advantage of my fan's PWM mode. This way it's very quiet (around 460 RPM) at idle.
