If you're only benching, I guess it's ok ... but if you're looking for 24/7 stable 3.8Ghz ... lower your values ... you shouldn't need these high volts.

True ... NO GO with "Performance Mode" ... and I've tried that so many times already, I'm almost wondering everytime I try it if it's ruining the chip further. Did it work with you? I can't get into Vista no matter what setting I give the CME .... only way I boot into Vista is WITHOUT the CME.

Did you get back to your guy at ASUS?

    Thanks.

No way should you be using such a high vcore. Lower asap. My vcore is at 1.21250 and thats for 3.6 Ghz.

I was priming with the memory at 2.04v , as i 've read about the overvolting thing. Last night , i set my memory to 1.90v , i run memtest86+ and the morning i saw that it had completed 19passes with no errors !! I run prime95 (blend tess) and it was stable.

Then , i set the memory to 1.8v and .... no error for 6 passes at memtest 86+ (i just stopped it then).

So , is it just my board or my memory chips ? Or the overvolting problem is bigger than it was described here ?

Could someone with a p5q deluxe and the same corsair memory try to lower his memory voltage ?
Been there done that mate. Ran my TWIN2X4096-8500C5DF @ DRAM1.8v @ 1066Mhz with my 3.4 Ghz OC.

Sheesh, no need to get your knickers in a twist mate, I'm saying for reference point. Yeah I know every chip/setup is different. But 1.4vcore for 3.8 ghz is complete overkill.

He is testing another beta BIOS today. You want to give it a go and see if it helps you real quick? I can post a linky for the file so you can try it. I swear I tried it but, not for sure there. I think I am getting old and forgetful.

Yeah, Sorry for that internet "rage"

That is what i just mean every chip is different, Atleast chip doesnt run whit same settings, and needs some little tweaking.

Wouldnt say that 1.4 is the overkill, but when it goes near 1.45V, That is what i use for superpi results

1.4 Whit LLC (1.38 LOAD) + Proper cooling should be okey! This is just my mind

No apparently it is still there. You can still try it though if you like apparently it fixes problems with P95 erroring out so maybe it will fix it?? Up to you no biggie.

Good Powerchips run well at very low voltage.

You're giving yours 1.88v roughly, which is more than enough for good speeds on good PSC RAM.

Nothing really shocking there...it's why i like PSC ICs so much vs. Micron...you don't need to fry your RAM with voltage for good results.

Wow thats unlucky. No idea why it thats high! Anybody care to speculate? Or is it just an unruly chip?

55c on load is awesome though. Especially with a vcore like that. Supose water does have it's benefits Mine breaks 62c with IBT and 55c with P95. I shall look into water

I guess there's a lot of variation in overclockability (we all know that, but we hope we are one of the lucky ones, but somebody has to lose CPU roulette)...I've got a dud Q9550...though not that bad. Then there's the guy in I was talking to above who does the same stable clocks as me (3.4 Ghz@1.32v) at 1.14v...geez!

Is it normal that every time I cut the power (i.e. unplug the PSU), the P5Q Deluxe loses bios settings and I need either F2 to load defaults or F1 to go into BIOS setup? Battery seems to be fine since date/time and OC profiles do survive power failure. It's kinda annoying to restore BIOS settings everytime mobo loses external power.

Sounds like bad flash or bad BIOS chip switch to your backup chip and see if it stops.

I did flash it through BIOS option after a few failed attempts to flash from DOS, however, as I recall, I think I had the same issue before the flash with the 704 bios it shipped with. I didn't know this mobo had a backup BIOS chip, how do you make the switch?

I'm with these settings to 100000% stable system (3ghz Multi8). The problem is that i want more... 3.2ghz with multi 8x, but it always fail the Prime95 In Place Large FFTs test.

Any solution? I already tried to rise up the cpu vcore, FSB Termination Voltage and NB Voltage but without success.

    Hi guys,
Going to order this board for next week with a SATA HD and DVD drive.e.g there will be no PATA \ IDE in this system I will build. I also don't have a floppy drive.
I'm wondering about installing Windows XP SP2 will cause me problems because there are no SATA drivers on the disc? Or is there?
I've read various different things from people .. some say you don't need the drivers and it will install fine. Some people say just select IDE as your hard drive and it will install, some say they are on a SP2 disc, etc. etc.
I'm confused and only ever built PATA | IDE systems.
Can anyone help me \ confirm if I will or won't run into problems, and if so how to overcome them.
    Thanks, Danny.

    Thanks for your reply truehighroller,
But surely this defeats the puropse of buying a SATA drive.
If I want to use a Floppy do I need the SATA controllers from the ASUS site and double click the EXE file to extract the SATA controller drivers?
Please anyone out there help me! I never get a proper answer to this question Someone must have SATA in their systems and built systems.
All my parts will be here by Thursday and I just need a guy out there to tell me what I need to do, or my best options are. I know this SATA thing is going to trip me up some how .
    Thanks guys.

And tweak later one setting of these a time...
Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved

Remark : They call me Pro Asus Saaya yupp, I agree

I have seen a person say that the new 1406 took away his issue with the CME option. Luci5r you should give it a go and see if hes right man. Guy with the sata questions. If you are not running Raid you do not need the drivers at the f6 screen.. Set in BIOS ide mode for the controller and you will be fine.
