Just picked up a nice Visiontek 4870 x2, from Best Buy, to throw on this board when it all gets here. Looking for some sweet numbers from this thing.

Sweet! I'm using a po-boy Visiontek HD3870 (it was cheap) so I'd love to see how badly that thing kills me.

I'm gonna try to stay up for a while longer in the hopes that I hear from Ace, can't believe I missed him by an hour or so... (doh!)

I bet you could at least make a few bucks off that 3870.

Well, I don't game much and I like fairly quiet machines. Think I actually got the "OC'd" version in the regular box because clocks are 800core/1170GDDR4, double-slot cooler with heatpipes and extremely quiet except under heavy 3d loading - all for $119 after $20MIR. The only quiet 48xx solution I've seen is a silent Gigabutt with a beautiful cooler but it's big bux and their RMA process scares me if I ever have an issue with that space heater.

That 4870 non-x2 is purty, but loud from what I've read.

Yeah a couple friends have them, and they are like jet engines at 100% fans from what they have said. But they said at 40%, they run at nice temps and are fairly quiet for the beast of a card that it is!

Thats a good price on that card you have, I have 2 - Visiontek 3870 OC's coming in for my second system. I do not game a lot either, but I love to bench and have the power on reserve..

Ket, do you have to add/remove/edit the cpu features for a given cpu you add to the bios or does it pull those features and their states programmatically?

Bit of both, as long as the BIOS has the support for the chip the BIOS "knows" whats what and the relevent CPU options are then made available in the BIOS.

Alright folks, here's the latest: Ace is trying to get some affairs in order and needed to sell the board quickly.

I put up the first $10, and have $15 'pending' inbound via paypal.

Based on my belief in the general goodwill of humanity: I paid the entire $135 to Ace to get this thing headed off to Ket ASAP, thus putting myself $110 'in the hole'.

So if you want to donate please do so as me & the Husky both like to eat, and trading up to a better vidcard anytime soon is not gonna happen unless I recover the funds (I can exchange my 3870 for a 4870 at about $90 difference).

... and to anyone who doubted my intentions: are you still wondering?
