More than that ,15-20% i guess. From what i know E8400 and E5200 have the same core, 45nm, Intel virtualiztion E5200 does'nt have.
The main diference is the cache which is 6mb for E8xxx and 2mb for E5200/
Anyway this E5200 do a great concurence to E7xxx, and smash with al x2 series from Amd up to X2 6400, an even to triple core
It's seems that Intel realy wants to crush Amd

I dont think its 15-20%, I saw some tests a while ago where the e7300 was usually less than 5% slower, <10% in the worst cases, comparing with an wolfdale.

The e5200 cache is just 1Mb smaller vs e7300, so I doubt it will be near 15% slower than an wolfdale.

I think superpi benefits alot from big caches, unlike most stuff out there

There is a price difference of $5. I find it weird that the PC6400 cost more than the PC8000, but possibly because it uses better chips and low timings?

I'm not sure about specific ICs used, but the g.skill models ending with Q (queen) are not as good as ones ending in K (king). As far as timings go, you should be able to do 4-4-4-12 @ 800 with either of them, and if you can OC the ddr2-800 sticks to ddr2-1000 then they would not run @ 4-4-4-12 at those speeds.

CAS latency of 4 clocks @ 800mhz = 4/800 s = 1/200 s

CAS latency of 5 clocks @ 1000mhz = 5/1000 s = 1/200 s

You don't need the (guaranteed) faster stuff at all for that OC but if it's the same price I say go for it. Even if you run it at 800mhz you should still be able to do 4-4-4-12 so you haven't lost anything. I don't have experience w/ g.skill so I can't say how much of a difference there is between K and Q.

i planned on picking one of these chips up soon for my spare rig..
im not to worried about voltage or anything..and im sure i can get 3.6 out of it..
i had a e4300 when they first came out up to 3.8ghz benchable and 3.6ghz 24/7 on a horrible water system 3.4-3.5 on a TT blue orb air cooler..(not even close to the best air cooler)
and thats a 65nm cpu that had high temps to boot compared to others and needed more voltage then other e4300s i found later on..

so i think this chip will do just fine for my case mid 3ghz to 4ghz should be attainable on good air or ok water setups..

Got me a new toy today, trying to find the sweet spot.
Vcore bios 1.425, droops to 1.344 under load.

Don't wanne try higher vcore yet, as uncertain of cpu survival.
Will see over the next couple of days how stable 3812MHz are.

My E5200 is linpack stable (75 runs, 6 hours) at 3.38Ghz (270x12.5) with a Vcore of 1.304V (cpu-z).

With this voltage it will boot unstable at 3.6 ghz (300x12), but won't at 3.8 ghz (300x12.5).

This is my 24/7 clock. Anymore MHz takes a better cooler, linpack really heats thing up. Advise, save the money to a E0 8400 or better.

In Romania it's being found under the name of 4Core1600-D800, kind of the same. Nevertheless, the pci lock/sata faints over fsb 340, a little bit under the point where Conroe1333-D667 loses control (around 360) which can be a nice margin with this 12.5x multi
