I'm not sure about the PCI-E x1 slot, seems like it'll be more or less blocked even without the tower heatsink, because of the heatpipe/sink network?

I hate those brackets though, would it kill them to put one eSata on the back? Who needs 8 ports on the back anyway?

    Haha!

I almost want to take credit for that...I told every PM, Marketing Rep, VP that I met to "get rid of the pink slots, use white if you have to."

Pink Ram slots are kind of cute... Go well with lime green...
PS2 keyboard plug-in is handy if USB isn't recognized when booting up as PS2 can be used to control Bios should that happen...

no eSata is a shame, it one of the few things i've actually started using recently too. Wouldn't actually stop me buying the board, but if a competitor had an similar board (with 2 pci still /point asus) with eSata, I would go for that one instead.

Floppy and IDE connectors, fail. And good luck using either of the top PCIE slots. The two PCIE sound cards I have are both a lot longer and would be useless on that mobo.

    They're in different rigs.....

I was only saying that neither would fit on this mobo.

I like the board layout, although they need to drop the rainbow of colors and just stick to one color scheme. Why is it that mfg feel the need to include every color in the rainbow when they make a board? Keep it simple S*****. I like the blue and maybe red or yellow, but not both and definitely not pink.

One more thing, you notice the 4 screws around the chipset? I wonder if it would be possible to replace those with posts to attach your wb. It would seem to me that would prevent any MB warping and get a better connection between the wb and the chip. Just a thought.

    me.

im using 6 internal sata ports on my DQ6, and if i cant resist and buy ssds i might use all 8.

so 10 internal sata ports is a good move.

By having an e-SATA on the back have 2 issues
    1) No power connectors for the HDD available, unless you are pulling ur own power cords

    2) Having SATA signal trace travelling from the northbridge to back panel, the data signal will intefered by other high-freq devices. Plus, if you are using a e-SATA cable that's more than 1.5m long, it might cause failure or compatibility issues..

So, having a bracket is a smart move, more flexbile for DIY users... And it comes with a power connector too..

orange slot is definitely 8x as you can see in that shot
The X58 chip spec can support 2 X 16 ... and for the orange slot it's muxed with the south bridge

you sacrifice ESATA on a X58 motherboard with all that crap on it for PS/2???? I would have even been ok if they put nothing there and lowered the price some by having no PS2 options.

My bad... The actual configuration will be

    1) SLI or CF mode : it runs at 16 + 16
    2) 3 Way mode : it runs at 16 + 8 + 8
It's all using the northbridge lanes..

As for "muxed" means combining signals lines from the southbridge.. but for this I'm mistaken.. sorry..
