She has done 4.13Ghz. I don't know what she will do on this board but, that was on the p35 my fiance is using I had it in one of Giabytes overclocking contest.

Concerning the Q9450 and the CPU enhancement issue :Talked to my Asus contact : who wasn't aware of the issue at all. Sadly he doesn't have a q9450, will the Q9650 behave in the same manner ? Tested with the Qx9650 and that one does everything fine, yet I can only maintain stability with the current settings at optimized and compatability mode set. For performance I need more Vcore and NB...
So now he would like to know if the Q9450 works on the other board where the Q6600 was on, and if this is VISTA only related ... hopefully more news tomorrow...
You either work with me or just ignore me, that's your choice...

Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved
Remark : They call me Pro AsusSaaya yupp, I agree
I've been sitting here thinking long and hard for the last 20 or so as to The situation going on in this thread. It saddens me.
First a bit about me, I have the same SN at Overclockers/Hardforum/Anand/Ars/2cpu and a few more to boot. Been on these and other forums since 1999. I have always helped as much as possible to others with thier computer problems to the best of my ability. I am 51 years of age.
I'll cut to the quick, not going to mention any names as I'm sure thats not needed nor would it be respectfull for the folks involved. I will say this; Sometimes when a person helps folks out alot, they forget that they are "just folks themselves". Noone here is any better than anyone else, its all just a sharing of knowledge and a bit of Comradere. However, IMHO, someone of high intelligence has mispoken, again, IMHO. I believe that to cast aside an issue within a pertinent thread is just Wrong.
I highly value this forum and the wealth of knowledge within it. I feel a certain someone needs to hand over an apology to the others concerned, starting a seperate thread elsewhere just isn't cutting it. Good people are involved and yes, some things do get long in the tooth, but is information nonetheless.
So take my words for and however you will. If you do not like them or my opinion, either ignore or if you like Ban me, but I felt that this needed to be said.

Soooooo is the prognosis that this board runs Quads just fine but doesn't like Trues specific Q9450 or is anyone elses Q9450 having problems as well?

Well, what is frustrating about this situation is that we really don't know what the heck this CME thing is...I've never seen it defined here or anywhere else. Ket mentioned that ASUS added it on the recomendation of Intel, but..and I am only speaking for myself here...reading all of the thread traffic about it...and googling about it for 1/2 an hour...I could not find, what, if anything 'CPU Margin Enhancement' does. Asus didn't bother to mention it...and the (very limited) help that appears in the side bar of the bios screen, to at least give you a clue about what a setting is for, has nothing. So, as far as I can tell, this may be causing issues, or maybe not...its the only visible change in the bios that sets 0803 apart from the later bios versions, but 99% of the bios changes aren't visible anyway, so it could be anything else...no telling. Maybe someone can get Asus to tell us what this thing is and what it does...then maybe we can start making some sense out of it and truly rule it in or out as an issue...otherwise, it's all just guessing and wild goose chases.

Im done with Asus. I tried for almost 3 hours for some customer support and never spoke to a person in tech support. I just wanted some advice on what I should do and what is the most likely cause of my voltage spikeing issue. Im going to rma this board through zipzoomfly and pick up a biostar tpower i45. I will never buy another Asus product again. That is the worst customer service that I have ever received. I can only imagine what their rma process is like.
The people at the top are always smarter with help desk. I work at a helpdesk myself. They are slammed because some bank gave away a bunch of laptops and now they have to support the people that received them as part of the deal. Apparently they had linux on them.

I just got on with their live chat and the "tech suppot" person just told me a 45nm chip can handle a 1.8vcore. LOL It took me three hours to get that "advice". I wish I could post this conversation. This guy is clueless. It took me three hours for some idiot to tell me I dont have a problem. Look at those graphs thats not ok. There is a problem.

I have just got this mobo and I can't load Vista x64 with default settings.
The computer is locking up while it is loading.
I made sure my hard drive is on ide mode and I dropped to single stick ram and increased dram voltage. No go!!
Cpu is q9450, hard drive is raptor 74gb. Ram is micron d9gkx.
All of these components were working on previous mobo including the vista dvd and the video card.
The motherboard came with bios 704 , I flashed it to latest bios 1306 using ezflash 2.
Please help....

hahaha bull's eye.....
reading more through the thread....it looks like with the q9450, I have got the perfect recipe for trouble.
ok changed cpu margin enhancement from the default optimized to compatible...no go
changed the sata configuration from the default enhanced to compatible... no go...
grrrrrrrrrr off to bed... I can't deal with downgrading bios at this hour.
what a hassle from day one....
anything else I can try before downgrading to 803 as some suggest here?

If I were you I'd flash 0803 now before you potentially damage your cpu. No one really knows exactly what the CPU margin enhancement really does (I know what is is supposed to do but it doesn't even do that) but if you have a Q9450, 803 is the bios to be on. Later ones will just not work.

Any idea why my hdd led blinks on and off in one second intervals when the PC is idle? It'll even do this in this in the bios as well. Gets annoying at night when I'm sleeping :/
As far as I know, there is no voltage diferences between bios versions on the P5Q Dlx. I think it's a hardware thing .... each board has it's own values but won't change between a bios upgrade.
As to the SB and PCIE SATA voltages, I don't know where to make the readings of those values.
If someone knows, please tell me that I can do those readings.

Those voltages don't match my board readings so I wouldn't panic too much. My vPLL when set to 1.50 in the bios is actually 1.51 when read by a multimeter, it will be different for each board due to component tolerance.

- There are differences between different BIOSes.
- Auto setting still puts a lot of voltaje.
- Lowest value issue is ok right now.
- There are differences between different MoBos with the same BIOS.
I don't know if AUTO value at SB and PciE introduces a lot of voltaje too. I keep it AUTO until I get stability and then I'll try the lowest value...

1403 is supposed to fix this issue supposebly but, if it doesn't try 0803. It might be just your raptor there doesn't like this board. I thought I heard soemthing about those having issues with this board, maybe I am wrong there though don't hold me to that. Here is 1403 try it then if not go to 0803 and you will hopefully be fine after that.
Modded 1403 = better IMO
