As i said earlier while researching this on the internet and found nothing that worked, i found that combining a few of the suggestions together solved the problem for me
because crysis is such a demanding game for memory it could be regarded as a benchmark tool for system stability in vista
1. i ran memtest+ 2.01 and started getting errors straight away, kept reducing my ram voltage down until i could run memtest without errors
2. I installed all windows updates and sp1 for vista before I installed any games and turned Off windows update and will leave it off permanently as i believe it's one of the updates that gets installed while games are installed that causes some of the problems
3. i disabled all non essential services, superfetch, readyboost, search indexing, task scheduler, to name a few
4. I set power management to performance and configured hard drives and monitors to never turn off
5. if you have two network ports and are using only one, disable the second one
6. in the nvidia driver control panel i set
Adjust image setting with preview - Let Application Decide
vsynch - Let the Apllication Decide
In Global Settings - Manage 3D settings
- Texture filtering – Anisotropic: Off
- Texture filtering – Negative LOD Bias: Clamp
- Texture filtering – Quality: Performance
- Texture filtering– Trilinear optimization : Off
after all that i can now play crysis without crashing or that bloody "driver has stopped responding and has recovered " message
my only problem now is in the first mission with the intro sequence of the alien spawning, it is very dark and then the whole screen goes white and then back to normal - is that the way it should be
this might all sound like draconian measures but none of these pointers above on their own, worked for me but when i combined them all together i succeded- this might also not work for everyone , i hope it will help
Best Regards
