Gods of DDR2 - Crucial Ballistix + Biostar TPower I45

After playing over the last few months with Ballistix on DFI Infinity P965-S, Asus Commando, DFI Blood Iron and Asus Maximus Formula, I finnaly feel that I have found a board to suit my beloved Crucial Ballistix PC8500 and PC8000. So tonight, I had a little fun

    Biostar TPower I45 powah
    &
    Crucial Ballistix PC8500 & PC8000

    Single Channel

    SuperPI 1M - 4-4-4-12 - 685MHz - DDR2 1370
    Valid - 4-4-4-12 - 690MHz - DDR2 1380

    Dual Channel

    SuperPI 1M - 4-4-4-12 - 675MHz - DDR2 1350
    Valid - 4-4-4-12 - 666MHz - DDR2 1333
    Max screen - 4-4-4-12 - 685MHz - DDR2 1370

    4 x 1GB

    SuperPi 1M - 4-4-4-12 - 600MHz - DDR2 1200
    Max screen - 4-4-4-12 - 675MHz - DDR2 1350
Valid 4-4-4-12 there is none, I can't get no file valid between 600 and 675 in CAS4, even though I boot into Windows at 1200 4-4-4
    Valid 5-5-5-15 - 700MHz - DDR2 1400

CPU-Z and P45 has some serious validation Issues, I have stable clocks where valid is corrupted, and I have a huge distance between max screen and validstion

    Crucial Ballistix
    + Biostar I45 =

You got some nice results out of those Crucial kits, I'm amazed by your 4x1GB clocks.

    Keep pushing it!

Dang, I'm taking back my I45 and bought a DFI P35 LT T2R because I didn't like the BIOS on the Biostar and the fact that it didn't seem to be playing with my RAM nicely and then you go and post this stuff What were your BIOS settings?!?!

VDIMM, VMCH, Performance level, RCOMP, basically the settings that affect memory operation.

Very nicely done, that board and ram go very well together for sure, and that ram is excellent.

    What vdimm & vNB was used for SuperPI 1M - 4-4-4-12 - 675MHz - DDR2 1350 and also for the 5-5-5-15 - 700MHz - DDR2 1400?

I don't get it, I have 4x1gb of Ballistix Tracer and I can barely get them to 1050mhz. Then again, I'm testing for stable...

RCOMP for me works best with Configuration 4. Performance level for such heavy stuff is 15. vNB is 1.5. FSB Compensation Finetune - Enabled. DDR2 Enhaced mode - Auto. vDIMM.....is a well kept secret

I would hazard a guess that you are being limited by your board. If you have the double sided crucial (D9 based) then the ram should have no problem going higher. What can 2 sticks do in that board?

You may want to try increasing the vNB and see if that helps if you really want to go higher. Some boards aren't capable of 525 MHz + when using 4 x 1GB, the only P35 board I know can do 550+ is the DFI P35. P45's seem to be a little more capable concerning 4 x 1GB overclocking.

Hey guys, it seems I forgot about CAS 3 Does P45 knows what that is? Well...it's not 965, but it goes pretty well:

    Dual Channel

    3-3-3-9 - SuperPI 1M - 500MHz - DDR2 1000
    3-3-3-9 - Validation - 505MHz - DDR2 1010
    3-3-3-9 - Max screen - 522MHz - DDR2 1045

I don't know which is more insane, you, or your ram

Very nice work indeed. I don't want to know what vdimm that required

I don't know which sticks I have because I have the Tracers and can't see under the gaudy heatspreaders... should I remove them?

Unfortunately I'm using dividers, so that might be the problem there. DDR21020 or so at 1:1.2 is fine, but higher is not. My NB voltage is as low as I can get it so that might also be the problem.
