hehehe guys
appreciate the kind words
Vince, as far as i can tell with MOST Gigabyte boards now you have to just get the relationship between VTT and VNB correct. Everything else falls into place. Tinkering some more with VTT Ref volts or Skews might gain a little but not a lot and 1:2 divider on RAM with CAS8 is where you want to be as Jody showed us recently what sort of monster bandwidth this board puts out. The VTT/NB volts are always different on each board and setup but my moto is always to start low and build it up. I will have to sit down and do some bios settings work in the thread after my Taiwan trip this week. This thread is pretty much just result atm as i haven't had much experience with DDR3 Extreme board yet....first session with it and staight to LN2
......i'm dropping the ball a bit heheheh
don't worry about temps as GB boards are usually pretty cool running just change the stock TIM on it with something decent and tighten the mother hard. Vdroop mod is a must but aside from that it's all good. This board is one of the rare P45s which does benefit from subzero cooling on NB as some guys have seen clock increases and monster PL at high FSB from extra volts
Expecting to see you bench quads on this board between 500-540MHz FSB
i'm gonna have to give REX board a thrashing seeing that most top runners seem to be getting great results with monster FSB including some decent benchmarks from my mate T_M recently![]()
RE is the way to go for sure right now.
It just works.
yeah let's hope i don't get some nasty cold bugs with REX like i had with some asus boards in the past
i liked my P5B DLX though...could run -140C no problem and i need up to -150C for this chip and stable volts when i stick a couple of 4870X2
i have to do some testing to find out how to get this "boost" in GT2 and GT3 in 3DMARK03....it's really strange how random it is ..........
i'll use it for my SuperPi runs as well as AM3/pifast
i can't wait now![]()
Vince for quad/board my sweet spot is exactly 1.38 vMCH, and VTT must stay low around 1.3. Any much higher VTT and you will lose FSB.
Dino - Asus Z7S-WS is faster than Skulltrail![]()
All along the watchtower the watchmen watch the eternal return.
Sweet scores.
Your insulation looks nasty![]()

hehe thanks
i'll be continuing with this benching session
i am going to try and see if GB bios guys can do some more tweaking to give us some ~650MHz FSB bioses for extreme cooling
600 is nice but not good enough
Nice results Dino! Congrats!![]()

thanks guys
i've bought a few VGA blocks
still missing one more and i will somehow try to mount them on these 4870X2s and try again when i finally get a board that will do 630/640MHz FSB stable with these cards
i'm hoping either REX or this new Gigabyte EP45-UD3P will do the trick
surely one of them will give me what i need hehehe
