OK, quit "twittlin" now The Margin Enhancement thing is still in there. I don't have the same cpu as you but close, no probs so far tho, will run a quick test or 2 to see if I am still stable with my old settings. Hope the bios works out well for you and Thanks for sharing.

If you'd like me to try anything,LMK.

Just try your settings you were using and see if they are still stable and if so, cool then try to push a little further and see if you can get higher maybe. Thank you twittling stopped, sorta I still wanna see a 9450 on it though as well.

I agree, seeing someone with a 9450 would perhaps be better. Ran a mere 6 runs with IBT and all is well, same settings as before, yada yada.... I'll try a bit higher, maybe 3880 as I was stable there with 1306m but not 1402, could be quite a few variables there tho.

I'll also try dropping a few voltages over the day today to see if that changed. System does feel a tad faster now tho, Everest is about the same with a mem test tho.

They were missing something big in all revisions after 0803 some how and this is supposed to address whatever it was. I am trying to get an answer from them as to what it was borking mine that they were missing. I will post exactly what it was if they leak it to me.

    And thank you,

    Your welcome

It'd be great to know what was messed up, perhaps Ket or the other gent who mods bios can look at them and see what changed. My personal opinion is that Asus won't give a straight answer as they don't like to admit to fault. Then again, I have been wrong before...

If not I think they might have tweaked it to work with the 9450s now then.

I leaked it, this is the resolution BIOS for the issue I and a few other people have been having with the 9450 quad and this motherboard. That has apparently been around since after 0803 on up and just gone un noticed by Asus. Asus setup a system like mine and tada they had the same issue and they spit this back at me which is supposed to fix the issue that they overlooked which I still don't know specificaly what they missed but, maybe my contact will give me that info later tonight when I talk to him again.

Might it have been a problem with certain multipliers not working and the quads?

Just purchased this board yet its going straight back to the retailer tomorrow, such a e board..woot? yes, a s-h-i-t-e board with a layout which is utterly bonkers. Its seriously fooked up, my mistake of course, should have looked more closely at the INSANE layout of the PCI and PCIE slots, I mean; putting the VGA card BELOW the soundcard? that is a huge problem when you are to use an aftermarket cooler (such as the Thermalright GT) the heat gets trapped and cooks both the VGA card and the soundcard!. Not to offend the "engineers" at Asus but they must have been smoking that herbal stuff whilst designing this board, damnit; oh well; I'll be getting the ABIT IP35 PRO XE board instead, at least them chaps knows how to design a board.

Sorry for the rant but I'm so fooking ticked off right now that.....arrrgggh!!!

The engineer said it was specificaly an issue that was related to the 9450s.... Grain of salt there but, when I get home and flash to this bad boy and if my shiznit boots up to Vista it will be a mirracle IMO. I have been stuck on 0803 for a minute now waiting on this BIOS to come.

I know what you mean by this. I have to use my X-Fi as I need the Dolby chip to decode 5.1 audio from my Xbox 360. I have my system sitting on a Tech Station and the 4870 still gets hot enough when running Crysis that it will crash if I don't put a fan blowing between the 2 cards. Only other solution is a PCIe version of the X-Fi for another $200.00. And you want to know something else? I have a new Rampage Extreme sitting here and I will run into the same problem. It at least has a PCI slot on the bottom but it will be covered up by a second 4870. The RE comes with a PCIe version of some sort of X-Fi but it doesnt have Optical-In and no Dolby, so it is back to the PCI slot on top again. What are the Asus engineers thinking?

I haven't made it through the hundreds of pages of posts yets so if this question was answered please have a little kindness upon me. I am going to be coming from an x38 system that has the ich9r controller. I have a couple of raid 0 arrays. Will the ichr10 controller pick up these arrays or will they both have to be rebuilt? Also will a TRUE cooler fit with the stock chipset cooler on this board or is it too wide?

The TRUE will fit just fine. I went from a P35 board to this, booted up and updated the Raid driver with no problem.

Does the bios of the DDR2 P5Q's have the option to unlink memory speed from the FSB ? So you can lock memory att DDR2-800 and tweak the FSB up to 500-600 MHz ?

Glad I could contribute to it . It did not fix my issue how ever . I still can't get in Windows with the 1403.

Damn you have been having this issue for a long time, I was really hoping for you that'd this bios would fix it. Is it possible that your board may be defective in some way therefore causing the new bios not to solve the problem?

If I were you'd I'd maybe try and get an RMA if Asus have nothing to add, you should not have to put up with this at all. I too would be interested in finding out what the overlooked issue was in all bioses after 803. Thanks for sharing 1403 with us

I can't wait until my P5Q-D is replaced, this M2F is annoying me, but It's doing the job for a moderate clocked 24/7 board.

True ... I don't have any issues using BIOS>0803 on my P5Q Deluxe/Q9450 ... how come you're having these issues? Unless I don't know full details of your case.

Anyhow - I just started having a different problem few days ago. My system won't shut down. It shuts down all the way to black monitor, but the PC itself won't "Power Off" after shut down. My OS is not on or usable or anything - but the PC remains powered, fans spinning and all! I have manually keep the power button pressed a few seconds to power it Off. What gives?

I haven't done any major updates/software installs or anything recently. Windows updates come & go but from googling around, nobody has had it lately with any recent Windows Updates so I doubt it.

    Any ideas?

Hi, I'm getting mixed results ...

    I am trying 427x7 approx 3 GHz with memories to 855 5-5-5-15.

Once I have the CAS to 5, PL must be at least 9 or it doesn't post.

The strap has to be at 333 because 400 doesn't post.

Well, I tried the following configuration:

    Vcore: 1.275, Vpll: 1.50, Vddr: 1.90, CPU GTLs: 0.645/0.675
Clock Twister: Stronger, PL9, Pull-Ins activated
    Vfsb: 1.30, Vnb: 1.24, NB GTL: 0.630

    Prime95 Small FFTs: 4h 2min without mistakes ...
    Prime95 Blend: Error Core 2 49min

    But when I retry ...

    Prime95 Blend: 5h 7min without mistakes ...

It seems that once heated, the things go better ...

Trying to solve instability, I have removed the battery instead of bypassing the jumpers. .. Oh my god ... i nedded 5 tries for the computer to boot ... put the same config and get random windows restarts ... After 1 hour all that things went better and I got make it work.

After all this, I return to the attack...

    Vcore: 1.28125, Vpll: 1.52, Vddr: 1.92, CPU GTLs: 0.665/0.665
Clock Twister: Strong, PL9, Pull-Ins activated
    Vfsb: 1.28, Vnb: 1.24, NB GTL: 0.635

Increased Vpll and Vcore to see if the problems came from there...

    Prime95 Blend: Error Core 3 48min

    But then retry...

    Prime95 Blend: 3h 40min without mistakes ...

Why do I get error on first try but success in second try? Any ideas?

LUCI5R - try disabling load line calibration.

Also maybe try 803, it may be a different manifestation of the problem truehighroller is having with the 9450.

I used the 1102 BIOS for bout a week then one day it stopped working, I was no longer able to get Vista to load up. I RMAED the board thinking it went defective and got a new one and installed Vista exc.. and flashed to the newest BIOS at that time 1201 or whatever and same thing. I could no longer get Vista to load up. I went back to 07xx and tada everything was ok again. Tried to go back up to 1201 or whatever it is and can't get into Vista again. I tried every BIOS after 07xx and the latest BIOS revision I can get into Vista with is 0803.

I think it has something to do with the CPU Margin Enhancement option they "Asus" added because it is not in 0803, anything newer it is.... I think that they burnt out whatever it is that it controlls on my 9450. The might have tweaked a few things with this 1403 I leaked that fixed the CPU Margin Enhancement glitch that messed my chip up but, I still can't get into Vista with 1403 further leading me to think it zapped what ever that thing does..I hope this better helps you get a grip on my issues. I would also try the 1403 if I was you and see how it works for you as I think I might be a lost cause at this point. They will replace my chip if this is what happened they said so, I am waiting word from my contact at this point to see what happens next.

Edit: I actually have a thirty minute vid of me trying every single BIOS and it shows what happens if any one wants to see it just say so and I will give the link to it.

A couple weeks ago, my system started doing this thing where it won't shutdown, only restart. This all started after I moved it into a new case and it also forgot my BIOS settings a couple of times. It didn't do this restarting this when I built it about a month ago.

    Specs:
    Asus P5Q Deluxe
    Intel Q9450
    2 x 2GB Corsair Dominator
    ATI 4870
    VelociRaptor
    Corsair HX620W
    Windows Vista Ultimate x64

I've tried different video cards, different PSUs, fresh install of Windows, loading BIOS defaults - nothing changes it. Also in my BIOS settings, all the "wake from ___" options are disabled.
