Ok, the clear cmos really solve the problem! Thanks for the tips guys

Now the real problem is that my 4 ram sticks of Teamgroup Elite PC5300 (667MHz) are keeping me away from my goal to the Q9450, the 3.6GHz

    I have them at 425Mhz FSB @ 2.1V with timings 5-5-5-15...

    I'm not sure yet, but I'll probably buy a CORSAIR PC2-8500 XMS2 DOMINATOR C5D 4 GB kit...

EDIT: Ok, at 425MHz the ram gives me errors at memtest going back to 400MHz

Let me know what BIOS settings you are using once you get to 3.6 Ghz on the Q9450. Been trying for ages to get to right combination, and everytime the system throws a wobble.

I've got it running at 3.4 Ghz rock solid. Just no luck with 3.6 Ghz

Hope it's not your ram, looks like I have to replace my incompatible Team set of D9GMH. Going to continue to research this, may get a set of G-Skill as it's pretty reasonable in my area.

To get P45 up to P35 level , you will need to mess with the rams : Static Read control, PL and co... download MemSet and check ya PL level there... if it's still at 10+ level lower it gradually 1 by one... and test thoroughly each time....

Biggest boost to get from memory for me is still to put the static Read control to Enable... I don't have 4 1Gb dimms so I have no idea if it works fine at 1080Mhz, BigCesar can't get his mobo to post at 1200mhz with SRC enabled and 4dimms... Maybe you can as you run lower fSB and Ram clocks...

If you get a good setup plz save it to the OC profile or write it down each time... as when you get it wrong the mobo will not post and it could reset all ya settings...
Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved

Remark : They call me Pro Asus Saaya yupp, I agree

Where can I look to get the version number on this motherboard? I checked all of the usual places and CPUID shows version 1.xxx But I just got the board fairly recently from Newegg so I'd be surprised if it is the 1st version. It is made in China(unfortunately) I still have the box. Thanks in advance, Vektor

I have a litle problem whit this board.
overclocking it is proven to be dificult :s
Whenever i change somthing in bios and save and exit. It wont boot.
I mean realy no boot,no beeps no nothing.
Have to disconect the power, reset and hope it works :s
    Its really weard.
It has the latest bios from the asus site.
    Cpu => Q9550
    and 4gb ram OCZ.
    and graphics card => 4870 X2.
Please could some one shine some light on this problem?
Because this is the 5the time i have to clear cmos :s
And i only raised the fsb with 10. Voltages are not on auto.
And the weard thing is i had it overclockt. whit an fsb of 360 and it was stable. :s

Thanks! I was playing around with it all last night, and as you said, the memory settings are the key here. I managed to come within 100 points of my P35 before I started clocking it further. My IP35 had an FSB wall at around 453 MHz or so, and would just hardlock at any higher no matter what I did. I'm now able to Prime at 463x8 (though not stable yet), with the 266 northbridge strap and 4:5 memory (1161MHz) at PL 8 with all pull-ins enabled.

I think I'm hitting an FSB limit of my CPU here though, so I may have to lower it a bit to get it stable, but so far I'm loving this board. I'm testing static read control now.

Edit: What are the maximum vFSB and NB voltages that can be considered "safe"?

I've got a Q9550 just like you...and yes, I found it very challenging to get a stable moderate overclock. The shutdown issue you a facing is a 'feature' of the board. For me, it always happened when I had something (usually a voltage) either too high or too low. First, you may want to try an older bios...I gave up on 1306 because it just wasn't working for me. I went to 1201 and struggled for more than a week to get a stable 3.4 GHz (400 x 8.5) overclock at PL 7. I have heard that bios 0803 is the best one to use for the Q9XXX cpus. I would try that bios myself, but I've invested so much time getting this config 24x7 stable, I can't afford to waste any more time on it.

Try this though...try starting at 1.25 vcore, 400 x 6, PL 10 and vNB at 1.2 and try to get the memory system stable (P95 blend, or better yet IBT if your cooling is solid). Once the memory system is stable, step up the multiplier one step at a time, raising vcore as necessary until you get to 8.5. That got me to 3.4 stable. If that goes well, and you want more OC, you can play with the FSB.

i prove the "static Read Control" opcion:

800 CAS 5 Static Read Control AUTO (disabled)

800 CAS 5 Static Read Control ENABLED

800 CAS 4-4-4-9 masx low latency with the Static Read Control ENABLED

all in AUTO in the BIOS only change the DRAM frecuency and static read control...
with the static read control the system using low PL, It is that true?
the problem is that can not pass 800mhz with stattic read control ENABLED, Why?
    thanks...

because you have static read control enabled.

you are @ 333fsb and 800ddr, why are you bothering to test here? who would care? move up to at least 400fsb and 1000ddr or you are wasting your testing time.

platojones and truehighroller thanks for your fast responds.
I will test it out tomorow after school .
And about the shutdown feature is spooky when you do not know it I mean I was looking at my mobo and you could almost see the questionmark above my head

Lets tame that quad core ^^

With Static Enabled here, my difference is Very litle, but is on the plus side to the extent i didn't even bother with screen shots. However, my guess is I am running my settings right on the edge of the best I can get, as I get an almost immediate freeze up in Prime with Static Enabled. Disabled all is well, and like I say the performance difference is slight at best for me.

    Hi,
Jumped from a 680i board to P5Q Deluxe. I had my Q6600 G0 running on 3.7 on the 680i stable after several mods. Now on this board I popped in the cpu and upped the voltage and fsb so its now stable on 3.8 and it boots fine on 4.0 too but the temps are to high on air cooling then. BUT this cant be right, no modding or no other settings !?
Should I change any other settings to make the board last longer/add the optional fan on nb..?
    bios 1402, china board, 423*9, 1.42V.

Thanks to all for this thread.

Hey any of you guys have pics of this in your rig I can see, just kinda wanna see the aesthetics of it plus I wanna see where that little fan thing goes or seems like it would do anything. Thanks!

    bios 1402, china board, 423*9, 1.42V.

Thanks to all for this thread.
I assume your voltages besides vcore and ram are all AUTO, plz set PLL, FSB Term and NB voltage yaself as they are way too high : Have a look at this chart what 450FSB does with AUTO voltage setting :

Try these plz with ya current OC and try to go as low as possible from there :

CPU GTL Voltage Reference (0/2): AUTO
CPU GTL Voltage Reference (1/3): AUTO
    CPU PLL Voltage: 1.6
    FSB Termination Voltage: 1.3

    NB Voltage: 1.26
    NB GTL Reference: AUTO
    SBridge Voltage: AUTO
    PCIE SATA Voltage: AUTO
Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved

Remark : They call me Pro Asus Saaya yupp, I agree

Here is the new 1403 BIOS for you Q9450 users this is supposed to solve issues including the one I have been having where I can't use anything higher then the 0803 revision. I am at work so, I can't try it right now.. Some one test it for me and see if it works good and tell me please if the CPU Margin Enhancement is gone or not? If not I think they might have tweaked it to work with the 9450s now then.
