well, my first night with the F1-EE was.... well....

im getting massive amounts of "frost" inside
i say "frost" because its only @ the very bottom of the "groove" and it appears gray
if it were normal frost id assume it would occur all over the inside so im a little baffled

this frost causes the LN2 to flash off VERY fast IE an entire "pour" (1-2 shots) is GONE in about 1-2 sec

im wondering if anyone has encountered something similar and or how to prevent/fix this

im in an ACed room so humidity shouldnt be an issue
i did use a propane torch to get above bug temp once

I get it to somthimes, Not to worry. It dosent affect anything UNLESS it becomes 1 mm thick

    it was getting very deep!

as in 1/4 - 3/8" (6-10mm) thick... i needed a drill to "drill it out" of the "groove"
(i say "groove" because this is an EE )

    ------------------

that was just a test mount using a VERY small TIM ball

    as in this small:

    (FX-57 IHS)

    -----------

    bazx,

id take pictures but that would be an internal shot of an EE

I've had many of the holes on the F1EE completely packed with ice, didn't hinder performance too badly. Due to my local humidity the entire interior of the pot frosts over within minutes and each pour just knocks the frost loose and causes a new layer to form. After each bench session I can usually dump an ounce to an ounce and half of water out of my F1EE Nice insulation job there but that test TIM contact patch still looked pretty thick. Maybe it's just the high quality photo :shrugs:

maybe its just my inexperience with LN2 but the frost really seems to effect how long i have liquid in the holes

even from the first pour (pot @ room temp) i can have liquid in the holes for 15-20 sec (starting from holes completely full) but when there is frost in them, its gone in just a few seconds

isnt this effecting how much LN2 i end up using?

i assumed the time the liquid was around would be somewhat proportional to the temp of the pot (and load obviously)

    IE
    warm pot = fast flash-off
    cold pot = slower flash-off

the "frost" does not go away after (during) each pour, it appears to act like a sponge and absorbs the liquid

I don't think you go thru more nitro. It does flash off faster but it also imparts the cooling energy into the unit faster. On the Rev3 I use, when ice gets in there you do have to pour more often but with less volume to maintain benching temp ranges.

if your pot is wet and or room is humid 'rem copper can hold a colder temp than room temp at times' causing condensation' when you pour ln2 in you will get the effect your speaking of

if you run i a cool dry room and pot is ambeint and dry you shouldnt ever exp the effect your speaking of.

im going to give the inside a good cleaning (remove any possible residue from any number of possible sources) and give it a try again.

ill be sure bring a temp/humid meter with me, try NOT to need to torch it.... and try again

assuming it comes back, ill take pics/video (not that ill post them publicly)

obviously, this isnt an isolated occurrence or that im doing something fundamentally wrong, which puts my mind to ease somewhat, so i guess i just learn to reduce it as much as possible and work with/around it as best i can.

My F1 EE arrived this week but it got caught by customs. Luckily they thought it was pen holder

I'll be overclocking Core i7 Extreme Edition 3,2 GHz in two weeks, results will be posted when NDA is lifted. Vince sent me the mounting brackets with LGA1366 fittings, thanks buddy

also still have mem issues to work out ...

    got CFM?

not as good a quality as the rev4 video, but better than nothing

those weren't pretty pours... turns out, shooting video solo during a 3D bench isnt too easy

near the end of my session (tank) i was "micro-pouring" every 5-10 sec and could hold temps +/-3C

    will need more practice
