Pros: This review comes from the heart. I really wanted to love this board. Several great features, looks beautiful, plathora of overclocking abilities, potential to please, love the passive cooling system, well-packaged with cables.
Cons: Anyone planning to purchase this mobo with a Yorkfield processor Q9xxx or above should seriously consider purchasing another non-ASUS motherboard. The main issue is the BIOS support. The default BIOS version (v1103) cause BSOD and will never pass Prime95. I had to DOWNGRADE to v0803 in order to not crash. Unfortunately, 0803 is not compatible with my GSKILL RAM that I purchased. So now I am using an older pair of 1GB DDR2 800 that I have. Just take a look at the ASUS forums for this mobo at all of the problems and lack of support. BEWARE!
Other Thoughts: I purchased an ASUS A7V266 way back in the day and had problems with that... I should have taken that as a hint never to buy ASUS again but was overwhelmed by the features by this board. Now, I know better - NEVER AGAIN. I hope that everyone with a Yorkfield gets this message and looks at another mobo for their $200.00.
Well, let's see. I have used this board with Gskill ram with 3 different Yorkies, 8400, 8600, and now a QX9650. I have used just about every bios since 0803 and I have never had a problem. Like said above, sometimes you just can't believe everything you read.
