The board is going strong but I have noticed a lot more slow downs when multitaksing with Office 07, Photoshop, Browser and a Music running at the same time. If I have a folder with my photos and it set to Thumbnails it really messes with video performane or audio sound. I figured a new processor and change the RAM timings may fix it.
I'd have to say you should expect hassles with the P5W and a 45nm CPU if your MB is older, but you should try it if you don't really want a new MB. If it fails to work right like my Q9450, you'll have had the time to scope out the new equipment...
