I'm giving up on this 1 sadly. My E8600 is degrading since I got it to 4.8GHz
Won't run any of my original prime stable clocks without at least an extra 0.02v - It'll run fine for apps and stuff but it can't endure a test any more

ToyTen the MAX vFSB = VTT on my mobo = FSB Termination .... = Max 1.30v is what most state .. I am only at 1.24v for my 4.2ghz . the less, the better (stable of course) is the golden rule.. and My PLL is at Auto.
EDIT:
My NB is at 1.26v

Thank you BeastNotro
I was at the extreeem limit then for my OC ...
Thank you again![]()
What is your PLL at?
If its degrading it must be high volts of something...
Either way and extra 0.02 to run stable at 4.5ghz is still GOOD/AWESOME as if it is only 1.38-1.40 that is the average thusfar for 4.5ghz on decent CPU's.
I did notice yours is a Batch 750 it appears anything over the 435 batch number needs a lot more volts to OC.. but you got a good 750 Thusfar . so its done good and still doing good/ok .. try 4.5ghz for a daily stable OC at 1.39-1.40volts.. temps too will matter of course.
I am willing to bet 750 batch is 4.3-4.4 MAX OC stable 24/7 with good/decent volts.

It's not just the volts stuff - it's the fact that 1 core locks up when it's overclocked with even 0.02v's out of what it's wanting
Wasn't PLL's or anything - went through all this on the Maximus thread. Made me sad.... but I got a QX9650 off my friend on the cheap so won't be long before I'm off OC'ing again

This is a quote (Below) from a post in the Maximus Formula Thread you made:
I see one Extreme Issue there:
PLL (1.65v real)
Is way beyond what is affiliated with CPU core damage, 1.60v is the MAX (REAL) and even then it should never be applied ... 1.54-1.56 was what i had my Q6600 at and it degraded could not run 3.6ghz prime anymore unless using higher Vcore volts = way more heat then i wanted.
On a famous OC website/review site . They killed a Quad-Core when just running over 1.60v as the real would have been CRAZY probably 1.69-1.75 ..
Anyhoo .. hope that Q9650 does good for you and i hope to see you OCing again and look forward to your posts in the Q9650 thread ..![]()

I tried booting my machine with PLL at 1.26v today and it instantly blue screened before getting into Windows. Did it twice, too. It's at 1.20v now and all seems fine. I would never dream of putting anything like 1.60 through it. For some reason I feel like I'm already pushing my luck with this chip's vCore at 1.4v.

Discussions lead us to believe that 1.65v was ok but nothing more. I put it in my partners PC and it's running well again
I'll try tweaking it in his board for a bit - see how it goes

I have a Xeon E3120 on the way. Would it be OK to post my results in here? I doubt there will be a xeon wolfy database
Batch Q820A657 btw![]()
Start one. This is for the E8600, so no real point in posting Xeon OC's.
I've got Q820A670 and it is not so good example.
For 4 GHz stable I need 1.264vcore real.For 4.3 Ghz I need 1.375v real
The good thing is - temps are really low![]()
GA Z87 X OC // 4670K // 2x4 GB Samsung Green // Intel 520 180 GB SSD // Noctua NH-U14S // Seasonic X660W // Phantom 630 // win7 64
if 4ghz gives you 200 FPS in a game .. will 4.5 Ghz give you an extra 50 FPS?
I doubt it ..so basically an E8600 @ 4 ghz is good enough at low vid and with great temps
Blackwhite: I fixed your screenshot. What are you using to take screenshots, btw? They're bad quality and they stretch the forum tables here because they are too large. If you want to take a screenshot of just the window of a program, press Alt + Print Screen together. Saving as .gif keeps the size smaller, too.

I need to see 4.2ghz minimum to enter you into the First Page DataBase List ....
Also DEE i can see his screenshot just fine in his orginal post .... but your fixing it though it is HORRIBLE looking...
All i ever use is Print Screen and then Paste it into Windows Paint.
I run a 4850 with the 8.7 drivers, maybe you have bad drivers DEE or something else not right if you see Blackwhite's
first original picture being not good.

Fort real? My drivers are fine. I have a 24" widescreen here at 1920 x 1200, too. His original screenshot has masses of white space around it (which stretches the board tables so we have to scroll side to side), and that was the main problem. Then the windows themselves are very small which makes it impossible to read unless I save the pic to my desktop and zoom in. Since I fixed it (in terms of size) it looks low quality but large enough to read the numbers. Obviously I cannot increase quality.
It's like making a low quality mp3 louder: it's audible, but in the process, artifacts become more audible, too.
Someone else care to comment on this? You're the first person ever to suggest I have bad video drivers on a crystal clear screen.
Beast, look here at this screenshot I took (cropped). It shows my CPU-Z window compared to Blackwhite's CPU-Z window. Can you read his clearer than mine? What resolution you running?

Blackwhites image wasnt great quality, a bit blurred tbh. I didnt have to scroll from side to side to read it though. 1920x1200 here.

I guess your browser is full screen? I don't need to scroll when in full screen, but I hate reading forums at that size. Many other people use smaller resolutions, also.
I guess being somewhat into design I'm probably in web developer mode where everything has to fit a greater number of resolutions.![]()
