I need this thing to hit Newegg.com so I can use my Preferred Account. Also I'm torn between this and the Athlon X2 GE-6600 (whenever it comes out) because the plan is to upgrade to a Deneb down the line. Either way, my bet is that this CPU hits Newegg on Wednesday. They're always a couple of days behind it seems.

I'm also waiting for the Asus M3A79-T/9950 125w to hit newegg.

I also plan on getting a deneb so I'm not sure if I want a K10 Dual-core or one of the current Agena's but in all reality you can't beat a Quad for $180.

He meant the other way around. Current IPC/performance improvement is about 10% higher than previously, with power consumption perhaps as much as 30-40% lower (based on benchmarks of ES, nothing confirmed of course).

I am waiting too for 45nm ,but i will buy a 9950 (125watt) at end September to compare to the One i have @140watt.. I think it just may be a surprize Overclockable 65nm Chip . Hope my gut feeling is correct. I cant stand the wait

Patience goes a long way ,at least for me, ATM.

The processor's voltage range is listed as x to 1.30V. If this processor runs at 1.30V like our 9850s and current 9950s, it can't be a 125W unless they actually redesigned the core. I doubt that happened. I suspect a mislabel (actually being 140W) or a bad voltage spec provided (< 1.30V stated).
Particle's First Rule of Online Technical Discussion:
As a thread about any computer related subject has its length approach infinity, the likelihood and inevitability of a poorly constructed AMD vs. Intel fight also exponentially increases.

    Rule 1A:
Likewise, the frequency of a car pseudoanalogy to explain a technical concept increases with thread length. This will make many people chuckle, as computer people are rarely knowledgeable about vehicular mechanics.

    Rule 2:
When confronted with a post that is contrary to what a poster likes, believes, or most often wants to be correct, the poster will pick out only minor details that are largely irrelevant in an attempt to shut out the conflicting idea. The core of the post will be left alone since it isn't easy to contradict what the person is actually saying.

    Rule 2A:
When a poster cannot properly refute a post they do not like (as described above), the poster will most likely invent fictitious counter-points and/or begin to attack the other's credibility in feeble ways that are dramatic but irrelevant. Do not underestimate this tactic, as in the online world this will sway many observers. Do not forget: Correctness is decided only by what is said last, the most loudly, or with greatest repetition.

    Rule 3:
When it comes to computer news, 70% of Internet rumors are outright fabricated, 20% are inaccurate enough to simply be discarded, and about 10% are based in reality. Grains of salt--become familiar with them.

Remember: When debating online, everyone else is ALWAYS wrong if they do not agree with you!

You just can't win. If your product offers feature A instead of B, people will moan how A is stupid and it didn't offer B. If your product offers B instead of A, they'll likewise complain and rant about how anyone's retarded cousin could figure out A is what the market wants.

I'm hoping this 125w 9950 will give us better overclocks than the 140w Variant. I'm ordering my M3A79-T tonight. I may order a X2 5400+ to give me something to play with while I wait for the 9950 125w/X2 GE-6600.

What designators in the serial let you know this is a 125 W vice a 140 W?

    Must be the X

    125W = HD995Z X AGHBOX
    140w = HD995Z F AGHBOX

the 9950 is the same as the 9850 besides 100mhz... I have noticed on average it OC's better and will require usaully hevy v's to do so.. which results in a Higher TDP...My 9850 ran 2.9 solid and nothing else would work 100% stable regaurdless of v's until the SB750. The 9950 does 200mhz more and needs mor v's to do it even on the Saphire 780g board I have. I have ran both.. same stock v-core same temps etc.. this new chip must have a revison changed or something.. or it is just to stop scaring people away from them. 125w sounds better and 140 has been a thing everyone complains about with the 9950. If someone can prove me wrong please do.. cause I am confused why it is higfher then the 9850 if I am not correct.

No ,, I think the New 9950 (125watt) helped pave a new path to get 45nm faster..Personally I think the new 9950 was a pre test bed for the New 2.6 45nm AM2+ so well be getting a 125watt hotrod 9950 i think..this will prepare us to jump for the 45nm's when they hit the shelves ..

    I wonder 45nm real soon...Hope so

Its the same stuff guys... It doesn't make it bad, it's just the nature of CPU tech (as far as I've seen, and my 1st computer was a Commodore Vic20.. )

I would predict that early 45nm Denebs will compete quite well with well tuned 65nm X4's... Similar to how Brisbanes kept up with Windsor cores.

The 9950be is actually a pretty good chip... Hopefully Deneb will be able to beat it in the hands of a good tweaker, but it will still need a little time to mature.

I hope I'm wrong, but if history repeats itself (and I personally think it will), I wouldn't expect miracles from the die shrink/arch changes to Deneb...

I'm sure Deneb will get better with time, but I'm still waiting for Bulldozer.

I have no doubt that AMD can come back with a badazz chip similar to the X2, but I really don't think Deneb is what we're waiting for. It will keep them in the hunt, but it won't be the Intel killer we all want...

    this IPC change isn't much.

Only the lowly L3 has gotten nothing else really.

Where have 32 way L3 is now 48 wayL3 in deneb.

I think it's not going anywhere with low 2 way L1 cache then.

    Need 8 way L1 cache a boosted 48way L2 can keep L3 48 way too.

Add me in 16 sse1,2,3,4 pre-core that chip would be obnoxiously huge in in size lol then again we should be able to fit in that 1.5" square right ?

how knows maybe it will evolve like the ATI is going with GPU's....

Deneb will be a welcome change. Higher clocks and higher IPC are always welcome. A 5% average increase is likely to be under what we actually get, and I'd be happy even with that. ANY increase is always a good thing. Let's not shun it because it isn't twice as fast. It's kind of like when people refuse any alternative energy solution because it isn't perfect. Yeah, it's not an image of perfection, but it's an improvement. Why reject it?

    Random Tip o' the Whatever
You just can't win. If your product offers feature A instead of B, people will moan how A is stupid and it didn't offer B. If your product offers B instead of A, they'll likewise complain and rant about how anyone's retarded cousin could figure out A is what the market wants.
