FF3 has one button that shows all history of a tab in a single drop down menu, both forwards and back. Say if you have a tab that has five pages forward and five pages backwards in the history you can see them all in the dropdown.

Chrome's implementation is much worse. You can can't see all history at once, you can only see backwards by pressing and holding the back button, forwards by pressing and holding the forward button. Worse yet, it takes about a second for the history to appear in chrome while pressing the "recent pages" button in Firefox is instantaneous.

At least it can use plugins of some sort, I don't think that it'll be able to use Mozilla plugins natively, maybe someone will write a wrapper? Dunno..

1.) You can check the complete history the same way.
2.) This not instantaneous behaviour for sure is scripted/set this way, I#m sure you can change this.

Damn it. Just like safari Chrome doesn't support drag scrolling with the middle mouse button. this . It may have the most advanced internals in the world, but I can't live with a browser with such a gaping usability flaw.

Really? how is it worse? It's minimalized, instead of two buttons, I have one, just press, I see my forward and reverse browsing history for that one tab. I'm still not sure what you're trying to complain about.

I just double clicked the browser pane, or hit the maximize button, and it appears to be in a "full-screen" mode to me...unless you mean something different...

Irrelevant. Firefox also has a history with search bar, but that's completely different than the dropdown backward/forwards/combined history of a single tab that we're talking about.

after testing Google Chrome speed is its best asset
but since it is a new browsers there are some site that does not open properly and it needs some changes in the ergonomic design
maybe in the long run it will be a viable browser for now I am gonna stick with firefox

Thanks to the guy who mentioned right clicking the forward/backward buttons. That at least solves the delay problem.

No.... you have two buttons that have two functions each. Backwards button either moves the tab back one place in the history or shows a list of *only* backwards history. Forward button either moves the tab forward one place in the history or displays a list of *only* forward history. Firefox has three buttons with one function each. Backwards button moves the tab back one place in the history, forward moves it ahead, and the recent pages dropdown button displays the *combined* forward *and* backwards history of the tab. Right clicking either the forward or backwards buttons also shows the complete forward/backwards dropdown.

If for some reason you can understand that very simple description, open up a tab in Chrome and go to five different web pages. Press the backwards button two times. Right click the backwards button and you'll see the three pages you viewed before the current page. Right click the forward button and you'll see the two different pages that you first viewed after the current page. There is no combined forward/backwards dropdown menu.

Press F11 in IE or FF. Maximized windows are still windows, not full screen. Think of running a game in a maximized window vs. not running it in a window.

In any case, lack of scroll-drag is simply unacceptable. A pity, as Chrome seems really ing fast but is all but unusable to me as long as it has that issue.

Memory usage is going through the roof over here,
Google Chrome taskmanager reports a total of
-175 MB for Chrome
-66 MB for Firefox 3
Windows taskmanager gives:
-43MB for Firefox 3
Reading the memory usage for Chrome is a little hard in windows task manager as every tab/plug-in and such is shown as a separate process.
Both browsers are opened with the same tabs (about 8-tabs), except for one and that is the "About Memory" tab in Chrome, which you don't have in Firefox.

BTW, typing this on Chrome atm. I'm really liking it although it does have some things that need improvement and most of all, I miss my add-ons.

@Frisch: Scrolling is a bit faster on Chrome because what would normally be 3 rows per scroll wheel click on Firefox is now about 6 rows on Chrome. This makes it appear a bit jerky over here, but I hope to be able to adjust this somehow.

EDIT: a minute after I wrote this it crashed , although Chrome was quick to restart itself so it wasn't too much of a problem. Hmmm, I'm also really missing my "mousewheel click" scroll, so I guess I'll stick to Firefox for now.

memory 15 MB here, but only one tab one open (XS )...oh yes, scrolling XS pages is slow. I had the same issue in IE8 beta2. Like in IE8, pages in Chrome load really fast, but scrolling is laggy on some sites (no lag on FF3 of course).

Scrolling XS pages for me is actually faster than IE. Possibly because its caching more items in RAM than IE does ?
