There aren't many manufacturers using D9GMH/GKX anymore as they are EOL from Micron. Pretty much all the new 1066+ stuff from OCZ, Corsair, etc is using other chips like Elpida or PSC. You should be safe if you buy some Reapers, heck I had to hunt to find Reapers that do have D9.

D9Gxx are not doomed to fail in any case. They eventually will, like any circuit. But when or where is not much different from any other IC. Just depends on the circumstances.
