Not that hard to lap.
Flat surface (glass, clipboard, etc.) and $4 combo sandpaper pack at autoparts store (400/600/800 grit - some say finer grit 800 up to 2000).
Up and down (not circular) 10 times, rotate 90 deg, 10 times, etc. until you turned 4 times with 400.
Repeat with 600. Then 800.
You don't need a shiny surface - just a flat one without big scratches (hence 800).
Also, you don't need to get down to all copper either (though it is nice for a better thermal gradient) - just a flat surface.
This will void your warranty though (as does overclocking lol...)
