Right guys, been tweaking my new g-skill Pi 2x2gb set. Taken a little while. Its rock stable at stock 1600mhz 7-7-7-18, so ive been running 10x400=4ghz with just 1.3v on my CPU prime stable and no probs. However, i would like to get around 445x9 and pump up the mem speed a bit. Been trying to get this stable at stock mem timings which is a little tricky, but looks like im getting somwhere!

Its still running now, gonna leave it another few hrs i think to make sure, but looking hopefull. Settings were:

    vdimm: 2.08v
    NB:1.58v
    Primary timings: 7-7-7-18
    Command Rate 2N
Sub timings: All auto, with the exception of...
    Perf Lvl: 8
    Dram clock Skew: delay 150ps

As you can see from the screenshot, I dropped the multi, but hopefully I will get vcore etc around similar voltages to what I had previously . Really loving this board now im on water, the NB, even with higher voltages doesnt go much above 40degrees when stress testing!

Performance level is a bit high for my liking (would have prefered 7) so once ive finished testing with these timings, I will try adjusting phase pull in's to get some extra performance, as well as trying higher timings with lower perf. lvl and see what gives the best result.

Could someone with this board please measure the distance between the holes of the fusion waterblock?

I'm planning to get this board and would like to replace the fusion block with something decent.

small update to the crossfire numbers. i wasn't really pushing or tweaking anything but 01. numbers look good so far, just need to get this CPU cold and see what it will do on this board. benching at 600FSB tRD9 3D is nice and solid with very reasonable voltages

I am having some issues with AM3 right now on this OS install. The .DLL fix isn't working and without it I get the exception crashes. Not sure what is going on at this point but hopefully I get it sorted soon.

When I plug in my 4870x2 I get a lot of artifacts on screen (2d and 3d mode).
I thought it was the card but now I have plugged an older card in (ATI X800 or something) and is shows just the same. Both PCI-E slots behave the same.

Could it be that I have a boad with damaged PCI-e slots?

they POST just fine but my kit wouldn't run the XMP profile stable. i had to change them to 2T to do so. i also couldn't get them to clock at all. again, this is with a kit that had been around the block and it might have completely been the memories fault. unfortunately i still don't have another motherboard that i cam test them with to determine what is causing the issue.

XMP is purely OC related, best bet is to allways ignore XMP and manually add the timings and ratio. Most boards seem to have trouble with XMP and this board seems to be no differant.

Try getting the 1866mhz Patriot Vipers to run under XMP on my Maximus Exreme lol its a death sentance, but add the timmings in manualy and they are fine.

There are many factors with XMP Cpu speed , FSB speed multi ect ect, XMP just OC the system above spec, and as we know, only we can OC properly ourselves.

3oh6, just read the Gigabyte P45T review, and was so impressed with the depth, detail and most of all, honesty of the article that Hardware Canucks has earned the VERY prestigious place... of my bookmark toolbar!!

My exact thought when first looking at a picture of the Gigabyte board.. that design really can't be good for northbridge heat transfer! looks like they tried to insulate the northbridge from the rest of the cooling...

Keep up the good work and I expect nothing less for the upcoming Rampage Extreme review.

So I read in a thread somewhere Mr. 3oh6 that you had some issues with your crucial ballistix and this board.

Have you resolved those issues or do they still exist? I was thinking about getting a pair of ballistix to run with this board but didn't want to get them if they were going to cause issues.

    Thanks!

can you not run performance level #8 up to 610mhz fsb? via seem per lev #9 at 645-655mhz fsb so im sure 8 at >600mhz fsb should be doable?

BIOS 0404 is fubar. 0403 is the gem at the moment...

thanks man, and yes, i really don't have any agenda when doing reviews. i do tend to harp on the bad stuff a bit much and through editing tone it down a bit but it was impossible to hide my displeasure with the heat sink. the worst part is that it is so well built. taking it off you could use it as a dumbell, but the fact that the heat from the chipset never makes it to the good part of the design kills it. other than that and the typical P45 stuff like performance and memory clocking, it is a really nice board with a ton of bells and whistles. not quite RE belss and whistles but still very nice

not so much issues, but it just can't really unleash the memory like it should. i have completely stalled out at 1030MHz regardless of voltage and timings. in the memory section of this thread you can see they clock to damn near 1000MHz at 7-6-5 with reasonable voltage for dual 32M, but only 1030MHz at CL8. obviously there is something holding the D9GTS chips back and as Tony mentioned, it might very well be drive strengths. i just finished my full stability testing suite on that kit for the review...100% stable Prime Blend, Dual 32M, 3DMark looped, and HCI Memtest for a couple hours at 1000MHz 8-7-6 at 1.90v (actual)! but brick walled at 1030 MHz for even 1M with any voltage.

also, this is with D9GTS, and some of the Ballistix PC3-16000 kits come with D9JNM or maybe JNL, it is really random. so just because my sticks are limited on this board, doesn't mean yours will. Overclocker886 absolutely tore it up with D9JNM on the RE...

    http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=195122

so it might very well come down to the ICs that are the issue

i don't think i can run tRD at 8 at 600FSB. i have also only used the 2:3 ratio on the 266 strap so with the 8:5 ratio on that strap, i might be able to tighten up to 8. the biggest issue with tighter tRD for me is the lack of ability to run much over 1.55v to MCH. with my stock cooling and stock mounting i get really high temps. once that is taken care of i might, it's hard to say.

on a side note for all those wondering about MCH temps. for my 1000MHz 8-7-6 testing of stability, i was seeing 60C MCH temps during HCI Memtest and it definitely didn't cause errors or instability, even after an hour and a half at that temp running HCI. so clearly the MCH can still function fine at those temps but obviously lower is better.

MikeMK is getting close whilst running a quad - see top of this page but not having any such luck myself. Can play games at 1720 but it will not Prime.

W/C the N/B seems to help a lot enabling higher voltages. Might sell my G.Skills and have one last try on some Corsair Dominators 2x2Gb 1800C8DF.

Yeah, im getting there slowly, its taking a fair amount of patience. BTW, it ran memtest overnight (about 9hrs) at the settings above, with 1 error on the 14th pass lol... so very nearly there indeed. A little more tweaking should do it. Not had chance since the other night to do any more, but i'll let u know how i get on. I think as has been mentioned by OCZ tony and 3oh6 adjustable drive strength might help if they add it into the bios.

I just post this same question in a wrong thread ...Sorry, i repeat:

    SOS:
I have removed the entire Asus heatsink for use Artic Silver and I have off many little washers, which have the heatsink in each screw hole (very littles and blacks) But now i count washers and i have one more than holes free! Does anyone know what hole should have two washers instead of one?
    Thanks!

    RE Adventure.

Well as an update to my RE adventure, received the new inductors from Digikey yesterday and got them soldered on. Used the entire tube set of AS Alumina to basically 'pot' the entire NB VR area and got the little copper plate attached. I can tell you that this thing is _never_ coming off without some destruction of the motherboard. Attached the EK block to the plate with some AS Silver epoxy. Big nerve racking moment was powering up the MB to see if it would post...and voila - success. Lapped my QX9650 and am using Liquid Pro TIM (first time for both of these) so interesting to see what the final results are going to look like.

Here's a quick shot of the primary loop (GTX 480) :

    In Progress:
    Lian Li V2000B / Ultra X3 1000watt / QX9650 (EK Supreme)
    Asus Rampage Extreme
    8GB ST ProjectX DDR3-1800 / Vista 64bit
    4xOCZ 30GB V2 SSD (R0)/ 4xSamsung F1 1TB (R5)
    Highpoint 3320 8-chl Raid / 4870 X2 (w/EK block)
HWL GTX 480 (top) / HWL GTX 360 (internal)
Fets (EK) / NB (MIPS) / SB (MIPS)
    15 x Scythe Kazes (110CFM) / Sunbeam Rheobus Extreme
    2x Bitspower 5 1/4" Bay Res
    Loop 1 : DDC -> GTX 480 -> CPU -> FETS - > RES
    Loop 2 : DDC -> GTX 360 -> VID -> NB -> SB -> RES
