I accidentaly flashed my board with a bad stick of ram, the flash failed and it wont boot now. Is there anywhere i can order a new bios chip, or somehow to flash it with it not being able to boot?
    thanks!

Wrangler, you can call asus and get a new bios chip from them, also there is a bios recovery option, try and see if the board will post and boot from the default system cd ( the boards cd with the drivers) it might work.

in other news I have this board working with a q9450, you do have to oc the ram to 833 as there is no dividers for 800 with 333 fsb. Also it seemed to break my vista install, it's asking for activation again but I will deal with that tomorrow ( go figure buying a legit copy and I still get this crap )

I have some problem with my p5w64... For some long time (about 1 years) i have always stable on my e6300 450x7 (3150mhz), chipset 1.8V + cooler 80x80 on it. I bought seagate 320gb SATA. Now I have 2 optical drives and one Sata Hdd. After bought i installed winXP but during instalation i had some problem with system stable (freeze and etc.) So I back to stock settings.
After instalating OS i coud max reach FSB to 440mhz, some weeks letter after i restart comp i could max reach 430 and etc. And now (after 6months) i have 389x7 and 1.8V chipset (below that voltage its very unstable).
What going on ??? My mobo dying???
I always upload newest BIOS, now i have 1101

Not 100% sure about the OC issues, All I know is that this board needs a stable psu or it acts real funny, make sure the PSU is good and not aged, after that I have no clue.

It may be a problem with the new bios. I just removed my "board + cpu + the heatsink" to move to another case. Since I was doing a fresh install, I flashed to the latest bios while I was at it. It was stable at 3.6 GHz before now it can barely do 3.2 Ghz and the cpu temps are high.

The only things that changed were the power supply and the ram. I swapped the power supply to the original, and tested the ram, ram works fine. Motherboard temp is good so is the motherboard FSB. It is the cpu that can't overclock and is running at high temp. I removed the heatsink last night and I will remount it today in case I dislocated it somehow as I was moving.

I wanted to check if people were having problems with the new bios and now I come across you two. It may very well be the new bios unless there is a degraded hardware component. I will flash to an older bios version and see.

Also with this new bios, my board is overvolting .05-.06 V at idle.

By the way, I was trying to switch cases because I am getting rid of the AMD Opteron setup shown on my signature. If anyone is interested in buying any of the components, please pm me.

    Thanks

    @ Torphoto:

    (1) You've been running the Q9450 on your P5W64 Pro for nearly a month now: no problems? The reason I ask is because in the P5WDH thread, there was a fellow who ran a Q9450 on his P5WDH with no problems for a few days, but his rig kinda went bonkers after that, such that, these days, he can't even run his Q9450 at stock.

    (2) I presume you're using BIOS 1101 on your P5W64 Pro?

    (3) BTW, has BIOS 1101 fixed the "cold boot bug/feature" on the P5W64 Pro?

    (4) Thanks in advance! :-)

    (5) BTW, am still running my P5W64 Pro with an X6800 (stock, don't have time to game), a Corsair HX620 (replaced my OCZ GameXStream 700), a Zalman 9700NT (replaced the green LED fan with a blue one), 1GB x 2 of Team DDR2-800s with D9GMHs, a Power Color 3650 (no time to game, sigh), a Raptor 150GB, and a Plextor 716A and Pioneer PATA/IDE ODDs. OS: WinXP 32-bit, monitor is the Asus MK241H.

Looks good, I just d/led it and am running it now. Wish they would update their supported CPU list on the site though. I haven't really seen any differences yet from 1101.

    @ stevecs :

I noticed your sig shows that you're running a QX6850 (stock 333 x 9) on a P5W64WS Pro mobo in your Gaming/Work System: has BIOS 1101 fixed the "cold boot bug/feature" on the P5W64 Pro? Thanks! :-)

There is a cold boot that happens for each reset, personally, I like this feature (but then again I come from a midrange/unix background) so dropping the power to the components and doing a cold restart plus memory scrub (by turning off quick boot) helps a LOT in removing errant problems (memory checksum errors among others). It occurs also on the Q6600 system (running stock at 266 x 9) as well.

I've not understood what the problem was with this for those that have been posting it in the past, besides it taking the extra couple seconds for the process (which can be more annoying, I grant, if you reboot often, I normally reboot once every couple months though).
