Any Comos 1000 Owners? Question for you!!

    Ave,

Can anyone tell me if these two holes that I see in pictures, on the back of this case, are for Liquid Cooling kits to get their tubes through in & out of the case?

I'm really liking this case and thinking about buying. Kinda torn between this & the Antec 1200, but this one beats Antec in looks any day. Plus Antec is missing a Floppy Drive bay which I really need.

    Thanks!!

The COSMOS S is a great case, I've seen it in person, but unfortunately I didn't have the funds to afford one... the three fan ports at the top are just begging for a triple rad

What's the difference between Cosmos 1000 & Cosmos S? (Besides the Color, and the $50 cost)?

Original cosmos has a front door. It also mounts the HDDs verticly and from the side. Each drive sits in a drawer and the whole setup makes it hard to cool the drives. The S mounts the HDDs in the typical orientation. There are a few more differences as well. Just have a look at the pictures of each case from Newegg. The major differences are easly seen in the pictures.

Yes those two holes are intended for a watercooling system, but I really was never happy with this case. First off, the door latch system never really worked properly and would just flop open after even light use. Also, the old 1000s have two 120mm fan spots on the top, but they have a large gap between so you have to either mod or trust the integrity of 4 screws if you intend to hang your radiator up there. The hard drive system was really unnecessary and the single intake fan on the bottom was unable to pull in enough fresh air for my liking regardless of what cfm fan I used. Also, don't put too much trust on those handles. Mine simply broke under the weight of a watercooled system. Don't let the aluminum appearance fool you, those handles are plastic and are simply screwed to the top of the case with a single screw on each end.

    my $.02.

Is the Cosmos S better then?

How does the Stacker 830 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811119103) stack up against the Cosmos?

I also looked at Antec 1200 but appearance-wise, Cosmos kills it - and they are pretty much same price.

Thats a matter of opinion. There will alwyas be things about cases that people don't like. So you really can't say one is better then another. Best i can suggest would be to head over to your local hardware shop and have a look at one in person. If you have a Micro Center near you they should have the cases on display for you to look at.

The diference between cosmo line and stacker line, is the diferent coolings they are designed for.
Cosmos Cases, are a lot better with watercooling, since they have precut holes, extra top space for radiators and so on.
The stacker is mainly designed for crazy aircooling, you can easily mount 10 fans.
I like more the 38x series, because of the high quality aluminum, EATX form factor, and the overall design.
    ePOWER EP-2000P10-T3 REVIEW at www.newegg.com

Pros: Powering my computer along with my air conditioner and my refrigerator, and I used it to jump start my truck once.

Cons: The only problem was the FBI at my door saying something about knocking out power for the east coast...not sure what thats about.

Now that's awesome input!! I had no idea about this - and I'll tell you what, from moment one, I liked Cosmos over all the cases I was seeing, including Antec, Stackers et el ... especially when I saw the precut holes. My number one priority was a Case that would accomodate my Swiftech H20-220-APEX-GT Watercooling kit ... and Cosmos fit that bill. Looks & Space aside, even budget-wise Cosmos was fitting the bill for me. You've just re-affirmed my choice.

Definitely going with Cosmos. I still like the 1000 better then S, and I don't know if I really want to pay almost $50 more for the S. Most likely will settle for the 1000.

    Thanks.

The new CoolerMaster HAF 932 should be coming out in the next couple weeks. Just something new to consider. Has lots of nice features and is able to fit a 120.3 in the top, right out of the box.

HOLY SH#$&!!!! That case ROCKS!!!!! Beats the crap out of anything I have ever seen - except the Exterior look of Cosmos - but damn!!!

    Any idea on price? Release?

Only problem with a new release like this - you don't come to know hidden flaws until people have owned it and start talking about it. Nevertheless - great find IMO - I'm holding off all sales right now ... need to look into this.

    Thanks Mate!!

Hey... I don't know if you guys happen to know or not, and this is probably the wrong forum to ask, but do any of you know if there's any news on a newer model by Swiftech in upgrade of thier previous H20-220-APEX-GT model? It's been around for a while, and I'll be getting one soon. Just don't want to get one if a newer one is on the horizon. Thanks!

The real difference, is the material the are may; Cosmos 1000 is maded out of steel and the Cosmos S is made out Aluminum.
Aluminum doesnt rust like steel, and weight a lot less

Interesting. Isn't there also a Cooling aspect to the material, if I'm not mistaken - I believe Aluminum remains Cooler then Steel ... I could be wrong.

I've heard as low as $160US. It's already for sale in Singapore and "supposed" to be released in the US around the 28th. Here's a enduser thread with TONS of pics. If it were a el-cheapo company, i'd agree about new releases but CM has a VERY good name in cases and I wouldn't hesitate to get one if it were available now. I really like the hole in the MB tray so you can change the CPU HS or WB without removing the MB. If you look closely, the big fans can be replaced by 2-4 120s, if you wanted to.

From what I found out, it IS indeed $160 (US) and should be released on August 21st. There's a couple of Online stores who have it listed with an ETA 08/21/08 (http://www.sundialmicro.com/Cooler-M...1701_1406.html)

I completely agree with you - CM has a very good name in Cases - and in any cases, I was going for a CM case to begin with (Cosmos/Stacker). The HAF still doesn't beat Cosmos in terms of Exterior looks, but at the end of the day, the interior system, features & functionality is what matters - and I think HAF 932 is the one to beat. I'm seriously considering going for one. I'll wait for it's release and see what's going on with it.

WTF, The case material doesn't effect temps at all. Now if the case was in direct contact with the hot items like the CPU, GPU, and RAM then it could make a difference. You can have a case made of foam and it wouldn't be any hotter then a case of the same design made from aluminum. Now if you had no fans in the system then maybe case material would affect temps but its very unlikely. With fans keeping the sir in the case constantly moving there isn't time for heat to build up to the point where its relying on the case material to help dissipate that heat.

I think you misunderstood - We weren't trying to say that the Case Material helps in cooling components or dissipating heat or any such thing. We were just discussing the 'difference' between Steel & Aluminium (built cases) ... and while Weight was an evident difference, I wrongly had the notion that Steel heats up more/faster then Aluminum. As jimmy pointed out, that's not the case.
