Kept my eyes out for deals (the QX9650 from Fry's for $750 was a huge savings and is included here for reference) and did some homework and took in the excellent feedback from the group. Thanks everyone, stay tuned for pictures and a build log.

Coming in November/December, I'll be building my personal Nehalem rig and have a $10k budget set aside for that. Stay tuned.
There is a Nehalem system in the XS Official Rig Building guide for $3,500 (without monitors) that will slap around your $5,000 rig.

Point being, wait for Nehalem for your $5,000 rig. You don't need hard drive coolers or the QX. Grab the regular Q9650, get a blu-ray player (wait for faster burners), take 2x750GB if you are taking an SSD, you will never need more than 4GBs of ram unless you will be running 4+ VMs 24/7, grab this case: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811119155 , stay away from watercooling if you need to buy kits to go w/c and you're set.
