The 771 (Xeon) mount and holdown plate is availible seperately. I believe Gabe was speaking about the way the base plate mechanically matches up with the IHS and core on a 775/771 which are the same within the same series of chips.

estimating from the size of the base which is 2" x 2" looks to be around a .75" square

And it looks bigger in real life. Trust me, when you hold the chip, the first thing you say is WOW this puppys BIG.

ya i am finally ready to buy my watercooling system that i designed months ago and now the gtz comes out and there hasn't been any testing on the fuzion gfx2 (to my knowledge) so it looks like ill have to wait :P. looks like a really nice block tho.

The block will perform within 2-3C either better or worse then the EK.

Im more waiting on martin's flow test to see what the drop is. Next gen top tier gaming machines will be dual socket. 2-3C wont matter squat when your cooling 2 processors. Its the pressure drop that should be more of a concern.

Having 2 supremes wont help you in that area. Well not unless your like me and you know how to plan it.

My EK will probably spank this GTZ even. Well im using custom accelerators.

My Cuplex will probably beat this GTZ as well, thats if martin finished stepping it.


Gabe you need to step the block and not bow it. Scott definitely discovered a winner.

Only problem tho, once stepped the block can never be used on neha since the die package is different.
