damn, i just don't know what to do know atm, keep the s2e or switch to my rampage extreme + buying 2 new atis...
1,44vnb wasn't enough for the 1002 (1,44v worked fine with 0804, but had corruption) so i just set it to 1,56 and disabled all spectrums @ bios since i'm sick of playing with the nb voltage atm and it "seems" stable. no freezes yet.
1,56v is quite much to run the 2 9800gx2 and 4x1gb 1333er mem without oc atm.
on the other hand the nb temp is about 38-42°c during load so not that hot at all.

what do u thing? any advice? rly don't know what to do atm...

So you tried 1.44 in BIOS, or 1.44 real voltage?
Because my spot was on 1.44 in BIOS (1.46 real)

    Try 1.30VTT, 1.56PLL, 1.55SB. Disable all Spectrums.

What kind of freezes are you getting? Maybe I can help, I used to have a lot of them...

Hi was to give up on this board and buy a Rampage Extreme too, but as last resort i decied to buy a new kit of memory (4GB CSX DIABLO pc3-16000)
and see if i was stable running 1800FSB linked and sinked and for my great surprise i was sucessful!
So now i have nothing to complain about and iīm very happy with my settings.
Thereīs no way i will move to Rampage Extreme now.

    What FSB are you runing?

    well with 0804:
    bios: 1,44v real: 1,46v
at the beginning "auto" on nb worked fine for me with 2x1gb 1333 corsair dhx. but after i upgraded it to 4x1gb i got some freezes. so i raised it to 1,44v and everything was well, except some corruption problems, can't count the amount of vista installations...

but 1,44v seems to be to less for the 1002. so i just gave the nb a kick to 1,56v (real: 1,57v)
    atm:
    nb 1,56v, all auto except spectrums. @ auto: pll: 1,5v ; vtt: 1,1v ; sb: 1,5v

well what kind of freezes...the screen starts flickering and then the system freezes or it just freezes, think it could be the same kind of freeze like i used to have with nb @ auto and 4x1gb earlier.

running just some poor 1333mhz atm, 12*333 ^^ actually i would prefer 10*400 or 9*450 but at first i have to get rid of theses freezes.

well maybe i already lost the freezes, don't know. 1,56vnb works since yesterday, no issues so far...but well, we all know murphy's laws xD

Any chance sarg can post pics of his bios settings? (ie; voltages, cpu config, mem settings etc) Might help us narrow down the problem a little. Should be using BIOS 901 as well.

If you have freezes even at stock settings, then I recommend you Clear the CMOS.

If problems persist, RMA your board with ASUS and include an explanation of your problems

    well not at stock.
2x1gb works with any vnb and bios
    4x1gb works with 1,44v & 0804
    4x1gb works so far with 1,56v & 1002
so the board should be ok, seems to be a voltage issue.
    here some screens:

I might recommend to upgrade to at least BIOS 901 before we proceed as it's been the most stable for most users. What RAM are you officially using so we can maybe verify the correct timings for whatever speed you want to be at, (ie; Manufacturer & Model #).

i'm using 2 sets of corsair cm3x1024-1333c9dhx with a dominator fan.
sure, i can flash back to 0901 as long i do not have corruption like with 0804.
well but it wasnt stable with 1,44vnb too.

Well with 901 I haven't had any corruption issues so far so you should be ok.
Now lets try some settings at 1333FSB first, (btw anything I don't mention below is left on [Auto] or as is):

    AI Overclocker Tuner: Manual
    FSB Memory Clock Mode: Linked
    FSB Memory Ratio: Synced
    FSB QDR: 1333

    Memory Timings:
9-9-9-24 is the correct rated timings for those sticks @1333Mhz, but another thing to consider is that for the retail versions of those kits, the timings are to be set at 9-9-9-27. You might want to try the latter settings if 9-9-9-24 still gives you problems.
Command Per Clock: Leave on [Auto] for now
    Rest as is.

    CPU Config:
All [Disabled] Except for the CPU Core 2, 3, 4 & Thermal Control, leave those [Enabled]

    Voltages:
    CPU Voltage: [1.25V]
    LLC: [Disabled]
    PLL: [Auto]
    VTT: [Auto]
    Memory: [1.68V]
    NB: [Auto]
    SB: [Auto]
    Rest on [Auto]

    Spread Spectrum:
    All [Disabled]

Try those for now and let us know if it helps.
    Cheers.

P.S. If you are still having trouble I might also suggest upgrading your RAM, it really helped with being able to achieve a stable OC here.

Well same prob I used to have earlier. Think NB: [Auto] is just not enough.
Guess it could work if I only use one set of the Corsairs but it's kinda hard to get em out ^^
    http://sargatanas.gwebspace.de/PC/mm/3.2.08oben2.jpg

Maybe try it backwards: how much vnb would be ok until I kill the NB?
1,56v @ bios should be quite more than I should need but at least it works so far me (nb @ idle: 36°c load: ~42°c).
So wouldn't it be easier to decrease the vnb step by step until I find the point?

Well which ram shall I take? Don't care for the Manufacturer as long as it is stable and I have 4gb on it.

    EDIT:
I just found one german shop where I could get the CSX Diablo 4GB DDR3-2000 kit for 246€. What do u think, shall I give 'em a try?

Max vNB to be safe should be @ 1.60, I wouldn't go any higher than that.
Be sure to try those mem timings too because according to an article retail versions of the same kit is different, (9-9-9-27).

And yes that is ALOT of tubing in there heh, I see what you mean. As far is which manufacturer it's all preference but you can never go wrong with Corsair Dominators, love those kits personally.

    Good Luck.

I think M@G!C uses those so he might be able to give you a better opinion on how well they perform. For that price it isn't a bad option to consider. I really think the current kit you're using is what's holding you back, possibly a conflict with using them in all 4 slots but I cannot verify that since I haven't tested that scenario for myself.

    Memtest failures

Need some help here guys...I'm trying very hard to get my system stable @ 1800 Linked and synced.

What should I focus on when I get the following from MEMTEST 2.01

Memtest locks-up or freezes within 2 mins..no errors. (more NB or CPU?)

Spits out tons of errors then locks up.

Screen goes nasty with corrupt gfx then locks.

Starts and then goes blank and reboots.

Spits out 1 or 2 errors but completes without freezing.

Completes no errors for a full pass, reboot and try again get an error right away(this is the most success I have had @ 1760)

Oh one other strange thing with my OCZ RAM I have a stable config of 1702 @ 7-7-7-22 If if try to up the timings to say 8-8-8-24 or 9-9-9-28 and test at 1702 I get failures in memtest. Why would higher timings fail, doesn't make sence. I have more memtest sucess keeping mem at 7-7-7-22 but I think it will be impossible to hit 1800 at 7's.

Are you running 1T or 2T? Cause if you are on 1T, then thats your problem.

Clear CMOS and first thing I would do is change memory voltage to stock. (Mines is 1.90, but I have to set it at 1.86)

With this, your RAM will most probably run at 1333Mhz 1:2 with the CPU and also at 9-9-9-24 2T (as long as they dont have EPP).
Run memtest86 in DOS and also prime for a while to see if you get any error, this will let you know if the NB needs more voltage. If this happens, I would increase the NB voltage to 1.38 and try, if not, 1.42, if not, 1.44. Check again memtest86 and prime.

If this fails, then maybe a ram stick is defective? or could it be a defective RAM port? (rare). Cause seriously I dont think @ 9-9-9-24 2T with 1.44 NB can be unstable...

Also, idk if this helps, but I found out once that my computer would be stable longer time with 1.44vNB than with 1.46vNB. Dont know if it was because of temps or because my NB didnt like higher voltages. (most probably for temps)

I'm running 2t, well it seems that 1002 works better for me.
Have to check the lowest vnb @ weekend since I do not have that much time after work but I know that 1,46v won't be enough.
Guess the problem are the 4 sticks...cause 2 sticks do not need that much vnb.

But I thought I'll test something before I get to work and well not that bad at all ^^

Rock solid, pc was still benching ^^
All on [auto] except: cpu: 1,45v (rly poor QX sample >.<) nb: 1,56v and all spectrums @ [disabled]

And btw: Which tool shows me the "real" vcore @ windows? Cause CPU-Z reports 1,44v and Everest even 1,5v.

Rly need some serious ram so I ordered a CSX Diablo 4GB DDR3-2000 kit and a Corsair TW3X4G2000C9DF kit

Those are some nice RAM pairs! Let me get the CSX if you end up not using them

Well, all I can say for now is to wait for those RAM and test them.

Well I guess it would be cheaper for u to get em at a local store but maybe I would trade em for 2 4870x2 EK blocks
On the other hand, I will need some for the Rampage.

    just testing:
    1002
1,5v (bios and real) with prime for about 1,5h not errors or freezes yet. If it keeps stable I gonna try 1,48v etc

    No CSX in USA
No 4870x2 blocks in my house neither lol!

But seriously, I wish I could be in Europe and grab 2 pairs of that memory right now.
