Just in case people weren't aware, there's a new BIOS revision, 1207, out on the Asus website.

Strange, it's not listed anymore, odd... I am using it.

    Dear all,

this is really excellent news, I just bought the P5E Deluxe (x48) last week and am suffering from massive Vdroop when switching from idle to load, causing my overclock to crash. Seeing this thread, it seems like I could just flash the Rampage Formula bios (0403) using the method from pg 1 and this issue should be fixed, right? What happens if I would for some reason wanna convert back to the P5E Deluxe bios, would this work in the same way (with the correct .rom file obviously) or is it not possible to downgrade once the switch is made? I've tried searching this thread and google for the answer but have been unsuccessful at getting a good answer, I hope you guys could perhaps help me out? Thanks a lot in advance!

E8600 on the way and should arrive tomorrow (retiring my old E6750 to a LAN PC after many months of a 4ghz OC). Need to update BIOS. 407 you said is the best for it though yeah?

Hopefully I'll get a call regarding my 3870X2 because 5 months it's been dead and it's been away over a month and when I phone they don't have a clue where it is or what's happening to it

Told em if I don't get a decent reply tomorrow then I'll go to TS (maybe they'll give me a 4870X2 :P)

I have been waiting not aslong as you but I'm also getting anoyed.
I'm about to call them now a take a huge all over someone.
Unacceptable to wait this long and they to tell me they have no clue where my card is.
The only thing saving me is my tracking number wich confirms they have accepted it at the RMA center.

You want to pay $50 more for a Q9550 at 2.83 GHz at a 8.5 multi with 2 x 6MB of cache? Versus a E8600 at 3.33 GHz at 10 multi with 6 megs of cache. I would keep the E8600 and save the $50. A Q9550 is not future proofing yourself when nehalem is around the corner.

Clock the crap out of the E8600 and enjoy yourself!

    Thanks!
    I'm opening the box now

    I would hope the q9550 would do 4.0GHz 24/7 but its not a 100%
So to hell with it I'll keep my Q6700 for a spare and clock the 8600

ROFLMAO! Lucky you! I have an RMA number but no tracking number and the guys who sent it away (UK's new RMA centre) don't know where it is, what it's status is or anything. I sent a very angry email today telling them I want a response by tomorrow or I'll be going to trading standards. If they offer me a 4870X2 I'll be happy and drop all complaints lol

Well, 407 sucks for me. My system won't boot with all my 403 settings. WTF???????

Flashing to 308 now (I've never run it) to see what happens!!!

EDIT: Got 407 working, missed the "double" CPU voltage list. Error on my part.

308 definitely DOES give the best memory bandwidth. Will upload screenies in a bit.

    Reflashing back to 308.

As per Grnfinger's recommendation, 308 gives the best memory bandwidth.

    Here's my 308:

You can see that 308 definitely offers more bandwidth.

I just wanted to let you guys know that I just succesfully flashed my P5E Deluxe (x48) to the Rampage Formula 0308 bios and it worked like a charm thanks to the clear guide here on page 1!

It has fully fixed my Vdroop problem of the P5E dlx bios, which got as high as 0.08V sometimes and completely ruined any attempt of overclocking this supposedly bad stepping. With the loadline calibration turned on, the Vdroop has totally disappeared with this bios, and I mean literally dissapeared, none at all!

The loadline calibration on the P5E dlx bios did not have any effect so I wonder what it is that is different in the Rampage bios. But I guess who cares, this method does the trick very nicely and saved me 60 euros in the process! Thanks alot for that!
