my overclock was unstable after 10 hours of prime & i found out why .. & it all so explained why the CPU volts were going DOWN when in Prime Blend It was the load line cali..... I disabled it & now it rock stable temps went up 2 c per core but they stay at 50 c or lower at all times in Prime Blend ..I also lowered the volts some across the board but am still at the same Mhz
;p ...... ;-)
Thats odd. My voltage sits like a ROCK with LLC enabled (not the slightest budge up or down), regardless of the load I administer.

Ditto with mine. Perhaps is the PSU struggling on one of the rails causing it?

but thats only what ive read.
next weekend im putting LN2 on rampage NB, anyone know the Coldbug of Rampage?
I called Asus tech support.
Since the floppy drive and the Memtest86 floppy disk would boot and work fine everytime in another computer, Asus tech support said to try the cables included with the Rampage extreme.
So I opened the package with the floppy ribbon cable and connected it and put the Asus Rampage Formula CD into the optical drive. After POSTing, the CD menu asked if I wanted to make a driver disk and to put a blank formatted disk into drive A; I said yes and did. The message appeared "cannot read from drive A"
So there it goes.

Well technically Loadline Calibration only applies to vCPU as per Intel spec papers but the way Asus implement it via the VRM circuitry it affects all voltages. The only way they can do it without drop it seems is to assume a value of drop and regulate more voltage than required, bleeding off over charge to ground?

I figured out the reason for an annoying issue I've had for a while! My GTX280 has always had the occasional weird problem where it would jsut drop the video signal randomly and I'd have to reboot to get the display adapter back. So I was playing about last night with my bios and memory timings on the GTX280 and it clicked that the PLL Reference Clock Freq on the 280 is 108MHz and then I looked a little deeper and noticed that the PLL ref clocks were slightly higher than supposed to, well by < 0.5 but > 0.0. I had realised I'd done something w2hich made it better or worse as I've played with the Rampage many a time but never could put my finger on it. Turns out PCI-E Frequency with around -5 or +3MHz of the PLL on the GTX280 and you get weird issues from USB device lag, to timeouts on PCI-E bus and even display adapter not recovering frequently. So I confirmed this by manually setting SB PLL to 1.55V, CPU PLL to 1.68 and PCI-E frequency to 108Mhz. Bang keyboard lock ups (cross talk between the SB and the 280.) Jacked it up to 112MHz. Problem completely gone so far. SInce the ICHxR are roughly safe upto 117-118MHz, there is a little give there.
All the wasted hours and head scratching figured out by forgetting about it. Wish more problems solved themselves with little effort on my part!~

my OC Report thread seems to have become the resident Rampage Extreme discussion thread. lot's of guys with boards are posting lots of useful information in it so head over here...

Just got my Rampage Formula, going to put it under all water with good Koolance blocks...
I am excited, Had to order so new fittings, seems some of the blocks still have M12 threads...
So they will come on monday.
I just don't like those compression fittings, is there a secret to getting hoses on them, I put the outer screw-on part over and up the hose then i put the hose on the fitting, but it is so hard to get that compression part back down to the threads. So i like the standard fittings because of that...
here is the beginning look.
also got me 2 4850's to play a little crossfire on it....

No i do not think that's it... as i ran that 750 single rail PSU with even more drives & pumps never a problem on my other R/F with my QX9770 .. it's such a wierd O/C anyway No telling what is up with it ...but it really gives me something to work with on trying new ideas on this board ... but then agin the Q9450 is a very wierd cpu anyway that's why it's headed for retirement by Intel

Starting to get a pretty decent and stable setup now.
Can run hours in OCCT. The temps generally never change. Only have the CPU and the memory modules under water. The heatsink on the mobo is untouched.
