    Yes, if the voltage is able to go up to the max of 1.327v set in bios then you could get the core upto around 850mhz.

    With just a bios flash.... wow....

    Now I really really need to read up on it. Do I need a multimeter for a bios flash like I need for a pencil mod or volt mod? Because I don't have one on hand.

    To be honest I don't know if the 1.327v bios mod actually works, my cards are hard modded so you'll have to waite for Leonarderman to chime in.

    nah, you would get around 1.2v at best. anything higher than that would need pencil/hardmod.

    my Asus HD4850 needs around 1.28v to do 800MHz stable btw

    it still worth it if you want the higher limit in the CCC Overdrive and little extra voltage (1.13v => 1.2v-ish) for overclocking. Im not sure if the one from leonarderman already has the soft-mod done though :p

    Please note: Don't try to use Pencil mod if you don't have a better cooler (Water cooling is best for use). Because pencil mod can give vcore 1,4V - it'll make your HD4850 card too hot. I tried with my Sapphire HD4850 Toxic + Zalman VF900, it's so hot that I can't Overclock GPU core more than 815MHz.

    leonarderman, do you think you could mod my HIS bios? I have it linked in a post at the beginning of page 2.
    Thanks.
    Here's your HIS HD4850 Bios file: HIS HD4850 Bios Modded
    Core Upper limit 800MHz
    Mem upper limit 1300MHz

    Can you mod my original bios and change only the upper limits please? DiamondHD4850.bin

    Core Upper limit 950MHz
    Mem upper limit 1400MHz

    You should create an USB Bootable to Dos. You can make it from the guide here:

    http://www.thepcspy.com/read/bootable_usb_flash_drive

    Then you have to copy ATIFlash programs 3.6 (download below) or newer (Dos) and Bios file to USB Disk. Try it done!

    http://www.techpowerup.com/downloads...lash_3.60.html

    Please note: Updating by ATIFlash 3.6 or newer (Dos), don't try to use ATI WinFlash, because I found the problem from bios file maked by RBE1.12 - ATI Winflash can't open bios file maked by RBE1.12!

    yes, i'm do it. I convert in calcularor 70000 (Dec)-> 11170 (Hex)
    open bios in winhex end find hex value 701101 - i'm find a value
    edit 701101 (700MHz) -> 187301 (950MHz), check checksum and save bios
    RBE say what clock upper limit set to 950MHz
    i'm flashing the bios nice, but catalist 8.8 don'd work with bios

    Yes! Catalyst 8.8 can't Overclock card with ATI Overdrive, you should OC with AMD GPU Tool.

    Why so many different limits and versions?

    Just open them up to a high value (1200 core+) but leave the volts/clocks at default.

    Your MSI Bios modded here

    Core upper limit 950Mhz
    Mem upper limit 1400MHz

    And I don't change anything else!

    @ STEvil : do you thing you can overclock GPU HD4800 more than 1200MHz? The WR is 1050MHz with hard modded! I thing 950Mhz are enough!

    I think my S1 + 120mm fan should be enough to get me a decent overclock.

    If the WR is 1050 then 950 is not enough.

    Edit - and i'm sure i've seen some at 1100.

    @ STEvil: That's so good! Try to top WR. Good luck!

    I could just overclock my to 815MHz with pencil Vcore modded. The card is so hot that I couldnot overclock more than that! Here is my result 3DMark Vantage Performace.
