On your last benching with t3r,did you use 400/1600 strap? I cant go beyond 450FSB with any other strap except 400/1600 and 266/333 strap hardly make it up to 440

Well im now the owner of a t3rs and ive got to say its a very cool looking mobo with all the hs and fins that seem to do a good job at keeping the temp down when benching. I did take some advice from Praz and mount my mcw30 on the nb and it works a treat. My question is can i over clock ddr3 as much as ddr2 and is it better to drop the timings or up the mhz?
    Thanks paul

I'm running 500FSB with the 400/1333 strap/divider. Will try to get some settings posted up in the next couple of days.

    Wilson

Need to try the memory both ways to know. A lot of variables that will affect the outcome.

Thanks Praz for above information, it was cool of you to explain those settings to me! Despite my best efforts I couldn't figure out their actual purposes (could only find definations of settings not what they did), lol!

Will try to get settings posted this evening, tomorrow at the latest, as whats required to use the 400/1333 setting. There are several settings that are broke in the BIOS when using this strap/divider. If left at default or manually set wrong will result in a no-boot even at stock speeds.

Is that with the 609 bios as ive had c1 errors long beeps and no bootup and if that`s because of the broken straps then it will all make sence lol.
Also this is what i was after.

This is on the 07/25 BIOS. I haven't tried with the 06/09 but don't have any reason to think the settings would work any better with it.

Yep i can vouch for that i can only boot on 400/1333 strap ive even flashed to the 725 and still the same and i get error codes that arn`t in the book like 01 and 46 ???? Its very strange
At least 725 allowed me to pass occt.

I see 725 is now official but i thought some straps where broken? I can`t go higher with my overclock cos i don`t wanna push my 1333mhz ram above 1400mhz and it does not post if i change straps.

Ok heres one for you if i have 2 hdd`s in raid 0 and i want to set up a 3rd for storoge how would i do this as the raid driver picks it up the 3rd hdd as a raid device and wont let me boot up . Do i need to enable the j-micron controller and install the driver for that? Then how do i set it up in the bios.
    Cheers Paul

you can add a third hd & initialise it in disk mamagement, the Matrix raid controller just sees it as a seperate indipendant drive. To add a 3rd drive to a raid array, means rebuilding the raid completely.

anyone noticed crazy temp readings with this board? using zerotherm fz120 which is the copper one and temps read into the 80C range then auto shuts off at just 1.4 vcore. had this chip in a gigabyte p35 board and at 1.5 vcore never got out of the 60C range. thinking of switching to zalman 9700 but the zerotherm is even higher rated on anandtech. adjusted the cpu temp in bios to -8C. but don't want to fry the chip either

Burnwhat - What chip are you using and have you tried re-mounting your heatsink a couple times (just to make sure the mount is correct)? Your temps (depending on what chip your running) are quite high to say the least so I assume there is something going on? Also what BIOS version are you running at the moment? To answer your question, no, I have not noticed any weird or abnormal temp readings and I've used a few different chips (both quad and dual cores)?

    short specs:

    xeon 3110
    patriot ddr3 1866
    2 x wd velocirators raid 0
    bios 7/25

i have tried numerous re-seats of the heatsink, even tried the aluminum version from a friend with the same temp results. at stock volts running orthos small fft temps are in the mid 50's. to switch to the zalman got to take out the motherboard to seat the backplate so don't want to do that. are u using air or h2o?

fyi - zalman 9700 beats the zerotherm fz120 and the aluminum counterpart. zalman keeps temps at least in the 60's under same load/volts as the zerotherm couldn't keep it from 80's and shutting off.
