Fans, Fans, Fans -- XS Fan Review!

Just saw these at PPCs, interesting...

At a glance they look like larger diameter Slipstreams, which means they are probably good at open air, but sucky on static pressure and rads (according to Vapor's review). Sleeve bearing, too.

Those are quiet "old" now
There's a great test on SPCR on these slipstream fans
They also were tested by Vapor, but I don't recall the link

They are great fans for a low price. On SPCR they rated them as being of the best fans. Vapor didn't like them finding them to be noiser. Maybe there were some bad samples of these fans

They are rated just a bit better than Noctua NF-P12 fans, so rather not for radiators/filters, so as exhaust fans for example or maybe to mod a PSU liek I plan to do

Great thread guys. Was looking to replace two of my cheap 120mm case fans and am eying the Zalman ZM-F3 fans, mostly because of the low price, good reviews, and the fact it comes with anti-vibration mounting pins. However I did read that it uses sleeve bearings. Does this mean it has a relatively low lifespan? Like eventually it will start whirring and grinding like my previous cheap case fans that I have to replace everyone 2 years?

For me, there is nothing wrong with replacing the fans every year. Hell, I replace mine every 6 months, because I am always re-building! The zalmans are a great fan for me, and DIRT cheap!! http://www.tddirect.ca/products/1652...ZALMAN%20TECH/

The Ultra Kaze 3000rpm push 133CFM for about 50-52db (don't remember exactly). I have 2 and it push a lot of air but to reduce noise, I'm using a Kaze Master to adjust the rpm, thus lowering the noise while still cooling enough.

Vapor, have you ever tested the Noctua NF-P12-1300? I haven't seen it up on your charts. I'm using 3 and they seem to be moving a lot of air through my MCR320 for the noise they're making (none). I'd like to compare it with the S-Flex and other fans as I'm thinking of going with a bit more CFM, if the Sflex are in the same noise-range.

Edit: I know you don't like them but I think it would be interesting as all the reviews I've read on it say that it is better than the s-Flex 1600 and 1900

Furthermore, they are low pressure fans, and against a radiator/fan grill, they are worst than the Scythe Slipstreams

That is very odd because everywhere I see, they are reputed to be the best fans when it comes to static pressure pressure. Maybe you're thinking of their old model?

Anyway, here are two reviews, don't know how reliable they are... which is why I'd like Vapor to check them out if at all possible. The second has a pressure test, but I don't know how to read it or what it means.

What do you think? I personally am happy with the amount of air being pushed through considering they're silent, but if there is anything out there that is better, I'd convert. I just need the proof first

The reviews I posted both say it's the god of fans, the review that you posted say that it's not. I think I'm gonna buy a bloody fan and test it myself (by hand).

it means ... that 1/2 of the good reviews that you've read is pure fabrication ... while the other 1/2 of the bad review you've read is pure frustration

most companies would hire bloggers, forumers to do their advertising ...
that's why you've to read even more separate the fact from fabrications

You can trust the Vapor review, forget the P12 on a radiator, so expensive and worthless. The S-Flex F can be more silent than the P12, but can push much more air when asked for (200-1600 RPM range, no fan can do that)

The 1600RPM are just as silent as the 1200, they undervolt better and have much more power to give when they are asked for. So, definately, I'd go version F instead of the E

The Kaze 2000 is much noisy of course, and doesn't undervolt good. But it is much powerfull

Thanks for the great advice. I may have found a good source for the Sun Ace fans so I'm thinking between those for 25$ and Zalman ZM-H3 for 6$...hm...what do you guys think?.

Great work, I love the S-Flex line, changed out all my 120's to the Scythe's, I like them so much I am going to void the warranty on my PS and change out the 120 in there, it now is the loudest fan on the rig....

I remember when Sidewinder had the noise files you could play back in the day, maybe they still do....
