sit and wait for 790fx+750sb with 4pcie slots
don't worry about Mike too much

    EDIT**

I should warn you that having an AMD QC is no easy task,
it's time consuming, requires a lot of patience and learning,
and will most likely give you a lot of Grey hair.
This is not a joke, I mean it.

    Socketman, I have two ideas.

Get a low end quad and OC it enough to feel like I at least did something...

    or

Buy a good dualcore now, OC that thing to kingdom come and wait for the 45nm quads (deneb) hoping they'll oc much better.

Intel boards capable of running 3 or 4 cards, cost 300 USD or more. There's no way I'm spending that much.

I like the idea of a challenege. I wouldn't be on here if I always wanted the easy way out. Can't hur to learn right? And grey hair might just make me look distinguished.

I'll both you specifically if I end up getting an amd quad, don't you worry.

Just wanted to give you heads up

I am not sure if it's possible to run 4 cards (threads) on a dual core.
With a quad, even at "low" speeds you'll have 4 threads (1 per card) and
as far as I know NV folding client does not need high speed cpu unlike ATI.
On my dfi nf4 939 I get the same ppd with cpu at 2.4 and 3.0 on XP
With Vista it barely uses the cpu from what I hear (I should really get it soon)

I think charged3800z24 wants to sell his K9A2 maybe you guys could talk:

or like I said wait for a new one but that will cost more

I don't really know how NV cards would get alone on ATI/AMD board
    but don't see why not.

I've been running vista since 07. I have 2 pc's w/ it now, and I have another legal liscence I can still use, though I'm greedy and want it for a 3rd pc.

Point is... its awesome IMHO. Very stable and mature at this piont. I've only had issues w/ mozilla and I'm still not sure why. Ran fine, but thats another story. For folding, it works wonders for GPU.

I would think, and I could easily be wrong, but since each core is not using 100% for folding, can't it balance 2 on one core? I'll run it by the folding forum and see if anyone knows anything about it.

I would also think that since each nvidia card is running indepently and its soley software driven, no sli or anything, what issue would there be?

I'll have to talk to charged and see whats up. If I can get the board at a good price & set up a paypal, I'm golden.

    thanks for the heads up

    4 slots:

But as I already said, they are arranged similarly to M3A32-MVP Deluxe, so it can't fit four dual slot cards. At least one of them needs to be single slot. Or you will have to settle for 3 cards with this board if you need dual slots.

So far MSI is the only one with a board that can handle four dual slot cards as far as I know.

That's why the MSI caught my eye.

The 8800gt makes an aweful whining noise when folding. Not sure why, but its annoying and I can't sleep with something like that. That's why I need 4 dual slot, plus it allows all the hot air to be exhausted.

If I don't go quad-video cards, I'd go for 3 cards, I'll have to see.

I need something stable, not looking for anything insane OC wise, although I'd feel bad not OCing the chip.
