Rampage Formula Bios 308... Everything Stock, Except vcore and vdimm

This is definitely going to get some of you folks to sit up and mess around a little bit more in your various bios setups. It was simple, really. I just selected 266 strap and left everything else at it is lowest setting. Only settings I touched were vcore and vdimm.

    Setup:

Rampage Formula, Bios 0308, Performance Level 7
    Q9450 @ 8x450, 1.160v
    2x2GB G.Skill PC2 8500 (DDR2 1066) @ 1125MHZ, 1.97v

    Check out these insane voltages...

I know back in the day. The 939 day that is. It was a big strain on your MB to run 4 memory sticks vs 2. With the Intel X38 is that still a problem? Should I be going for 2X2GB vs 4X1GB>

You can go for 2x 2GB but choose carefully, there's still issues and needs some tweaking to run stable at higher clocks....

    I recommend G-SKill or OCZ

    HEATSINK: Thermalright Ultra-120 eXtreme push/pull 120mm @ Lapped

    Memory: OCZ DDR2-1066 4GB Kit ReaperHPC @ 1081

no you wont get PL6 with that FSB and divider. PL7 will be the best you can do without a hang.

Thanks, yep, running a rampage here. By the way, I'm on the 333 strap now, 3.7Ghz and working upwards.

Can you please post your complete settings for this 450x8 and ram ar 1200? Are you using PL6?
I'm also trying to get my system stable with ram at 1200, bit core fails after 2-8 min of prime95 blend...tried upping differents voltages, changed mem subtimings, played with gtls, but no way, every time a core fails after few minutes of priming...
    thanks

    lol Yes

that is my Stable clock...... I use this 24/7. I use this in COD4 in Cal and Cevo Gaming leagues

Highest ive had the E8400 is 4.8 but it isnt stable.... id like to see some screen shots of some of these xtreme clocks tested with prime for 16 hours I dont think they could last 2 minute, get a heavy overclock is the easy part getting it stable is the the real task.

If anyone has some pointers for this Maximus Formula Rampage editon with a an E8400 bios 403.... feel free to give advice so I can get some higher stable clocks.

Well since updating to Rampage BIOS 308 from my Maximus 903 I've dropped my CPU V by like 0.18v! Epic when it needed nearly 1.6v before to get anything stable! 266 strap with ram @ 1245mhz

However it does have 1 issue with prime after a while so I need to tweak that out. Might need to slacken the mem timing a wee bit but I think it just needs a wee bit more voltage. Currently @ 5-5-5-18 2T @ 2.2v if I recall (my RAM is sick though, found it can do really stupid OC's at slack timings. I've seen people run it @ 1402mhz with 5-8-8-21 2T with 2.45v

    Nice clocks....

The 4.5 at 1.456 volts hasnt been stress tested.

Did you find the 308 bios better than the 403 bios??

I have to run 1.5v or more to get anything stable after 4ghz, and it seems the only difference is the bios version

what you running your trd at GRN and is your board vmod penciled

Torturing your hardware for 16 hours straight at levels you're never ever going to use your system is a little bit e-penis wagging in imho. This is the highest I ever bothered priming.

Gah! Rampage BIOS sucks balls for me apart from lower voltages. Doesn't like my E6750 clocking to 4ghz at all!

Tried everything I can think of - won't even run my games stable. Although I must say, it's taught me huge ammounts more about my RAM and timings

Might flash back to the Maximus 0903 again.... then again... might leave it and get a new CPU

....although I do really like my E6750 - it's my first OC'ing chip

    Opinions?

There was no point in priming 4500 there was little difference from 4400
308 is the best bios to date imo

Post your current Rampage bios setup
Rampage will clock higher than Maximus, it takes awhile to learn and tweak the settings
9x450 should be a easy clock for Rampage

E6750 only goes up to x8

Tried various settings based on my old setup - it all boot sbut it won't survive any tests

    Ai Overclock Tuner : Manual
OC From CPU Level Up : AUTO
    CPU Ratio Control : Manual
    - Ratio CMOS Setting : 8
    FSB Frequency : 500 (510, 515 and 525 have been attempted)

    DRAM Frequency: Auto / 1201 / 1245
    DRAM Command Rate : Auto / 2T
    DRAM Timing Control: Auto / 5-5-5-15 / 5-5-5-18 (5-8-8-21 for 1402 )

CPU Voltage : 1.5875v <---- ran at 1.50v 266 strap and shaved loads of my temps but didn't like going up
    CPU PLL Voltage : 1.50 / Auto
    North Bridge Voltage : 1.47 / 1.49
DRAM Voltage : 2.14 / 2.3 (2.45v real lets my ram run at stupid speeds)
    FSB Termination Voltage : 1.42
    South Bridge Voltage : 1.075
