The main things that kill 45nm's are high VTT voltage and anything other than stock PLL voltage. Mix those with high Vcore, and you have a recipe for death. High Vcore on it's own does not kill 45nm's.
by higher i meant 1.6 v + , i already killed 2xE8400 and 1xE8500 with 1.65v for about 1 month each , SS cooled with sub -30c load this why i suggest to stay in 1.5-1.55v as max for 24/7 . I know that each processor handle differently the voltage but it is better to be safe than sorry .

i think you will find the stock vapo will lose capacity under load @4ghz very quicklly.. then again it might be great

Hey Carlo...I agree with you on that as I have a Q6600 highest I've run it was about 4050mhz and I have a Jin mod that was turned for a QX9650.

Rip is also accurate as I have been able to run 4Ghz for a long time yet after several hours...like 8 or 12 some freezing of screen and other things occur. Further this is with regular windows apps., when gaming forget about it...I turn it down to 3.8-3.9 is pushing it for best stability without any hangs or crashes.

As for the price...I was actually getting a fair price at a lil over $600...but mine came with 775-LGA and moreover was Jin mod'd~!!!

Now, if I could only find a US retailer for the new Asus Rampage Extreme mb. Then I would upgrade to the QX9770, the new mb & chip would hold me over until Neh & x58; have a little bit of proven results, Asus Rog mb and lower prices if not at least msrp.

You know how retailers are always marking up prices over msrp for new stuff!?!

On my LS I was able to run quite stable at 4.32 Ghz and even boot into Win at 4.6Ghz using a QX6850. But after some time at 4.32 ghz (several hours) the temps all of a sudden start going up ... believe it or not, if you then pick up the computer and jar it slightly things get back to normal again. It almost seems like something gets clogged up and the temps go up. I have since decided that the best stable speed where you can run it 24/7 is just over 4.1Ghz. I guess you could modify your LS to hold a higher load ... but really it is not designed for Quads from the factory.

If I were you I would keep it as is because it seems that the newer CPU's that are arriving will be perfect for the LS as is. I think the Nehalem is at exactly the sweet spot for the LS in terms of load.

Hmm good to know this, because i have been running my qx with 5.0Ghz at 1.65v at 24/7 for couple days now . I guess is better to tune it 1.5v and lower mhz than kill 700$ cpu :P
