, I think I just bricked my card... I tried to change the VOLTS... and the biosflash said it was succesful.. but now it doesnt put out video....

Is there a way to undo a bios change, and even reflash? monitor just goes into standby now. PLEASE HELP!

Or do I have anyhope with a RMA? or anything?

I have a 8800gt, so could I have both in the computer and just flash the ATI? is so what should I do? Thanks for anything.

lol 941 on the core, nice clocks

I'v flashed my bios's several different times and found if I change the mem frequency the screen occasionaly goes blank.. I'm guessing VRM's over heating? I can get the cores upto about 850ish on stock voltages but am unsure of max safe voltage so havnt touched voltages yet..but want to go as far as the stock cooler will take me.. might purchase some water cooling if I like the results

yeh I'm a bit unsure about voltage aswell.. I'v heard you can only go up to 1.3??

Yeah, there is some mad artifacting with 4870 and OC. My XOC artifacts right out of the box. ATITool will show it to you easy. I finally managed to get a stable 850/1150 thought, artifact free and very solid. Max GPU temps are around 65C. The volts are 1.349 core and 1.598 memory.

Btw, if you want the XOC BIOS I posted it here...

Does the XOC bios have the voltage upped in it? cause im not gonna volt mod mine, but wouldn't mine a small volt up in bios.

^ lol, some people...so silly thinking AMD/ATI or their partners would make it that easy to extract performance out of their cards, eh :p

Anyway, getting serious again, XOC BIOS has stock volts, and the only option you have is to voltmod unfortunately.

I guess that's kind of a good thing, lol. With that voltage you'd shut down the whole country

Low 40s under load with a MCW60s. GPU is at 1.4v and the memory is still stock.

Hmm... this is kinda odd, and frustrating. I can OC my memory to 1100 with 0 artifacts in ATI Tool but soon as I take my core off 775 it will start to show the little damn yellow dots....

He has removed any possibiliy of a CPU bottleneck with a 4Ghz Quad and with a core clock close to 900 he's reached the top end of the clock spectrum. That alone counts for a good 2-3 thousand points.

yeah I have the third highest GPU score for 4870 overall. And you really need to have 3.6+ to really get your full gfx score, as perk noted

Im off for some catamaran racing over the weekend so you guys have some time to catch up now

Recently flashed my Sapphire 4870 to the Diamond XOC bios. Was hopping this bios would become available soon . Flash went great with WinFlash no issues.

Card is rock stable at 845/1050 with fan running @ 55%. Card is not Vmod.
Loads to about 55c-56c during 2 hours of COD4 Multiplayer.

Boost, can you post the location of the BIOS for the XOC?

    EDIT

    Can be found here.

BooStFeD - Did you run ATITool on it and FurMark at those clocks? I am curious if you will artifact in ATITool and if you can run FurMark stable. I artifact at those clocks at 50% fan on the card that supplied that XOC BIOS you are using

    Let me know...

With the rig in my sig, anyone know why I am getting such low 3DMark06 results? I get like 13300, with 5500 SM2, 6800 SM3, and 2700 CPU score.

Does a quadcore add that much to the score then? Is that just a 3DMark06 thing, or is having a dual core really that limiting for the 4870 in game?

quad core @ 3.6 and 2 video cards certainly do increase the score

its mostly 3dmark06.. but with games a dual core is fine, there are barely a handfull of games that use quad core...

I've got The Witcher, and I see Anandtech claims the 4870 will get ~59fps avg with 2xAA at 1680x1050. I did a FRAPs 30 second benchmark of a fight early in the game, and got 61fps avg, but I have no idea what the Anandtech benchmark was, so I can't really compare it. Even so, it makes me feel a little better to know that my performance in a game is at least around what the review benchmarks say.
