I give up on Q6600s now - I got my last two today, both 1.3125 VIDs.

The second one really takes the biscuit because the seller had a screenshot of "his" processor showing 1.12 vcore @ 2.4GHz in CPU-Z, so obviously everyone bid frantically thinking that it was a golden chip with 1.2 VID - that's why the darn thing sold for £130/$260.

Someone even asked "is this YOUR screenshot of YOUR processor" and he said yes.

So now I have six CPUs and am in the process of getting a refund for one of them, which leaves five to sell.

I'll sell you mine if you want, does 3.2 stable at 1.312 observed (1.325vid) on a P5Q Pro or 3.0 at 1.288 observed (1.300vid) Haven't really tried higher because in spite of my membership here, I'm just not that extreme

That is really tough luck man, perhaps some 45nm quad could suit you well after you have got rid of all those Kents?

    None Q6600 beat's my old Q6600 !

He did 4Ghz on only 1.384V 1000% stable!
He could do 4185Mhz suicide on that voltage...

And I was so stupid to sell that sweet thing ! I will never forgive me ...

    (BTW, it was a L737B, 1.2250 VID.)

He also did 4.2Ghz on 1.42V... Very sweet chip, i miss it like dead .
    Now i'm stuck with a L738A only doing 3.8Ghz on 1.456V ...
And still I will not own everyone[/FONT]

Just picked up another L810B with a VID of 1.2375 and popped it into my kids BX2. Happily running 3.0 GHZ at 1.18v. I may see how this one does on my Rampage...

I briefly had one even better did 4Ghz with 1.31 100% stable. I wish i never sold it.

Have to put up with a crappy one that takes 1.5v for 4ghz.

now I'm new to this overclocking game, but I have question. I just upgraded, Q6600, 2 4850's, 2x2GB of GSkill 1066, and ASUS Rampage Formula X48 board.

Now looking at what everyone said, the lower the VID the better, right? Do you read the VID before or after overclocking? I just downloaded Core Temp 0.99.1 and it says my VID is 1.1500v. Do you read it at idle or load? I didn't read the whole thread, but I am going to browse through it now. I have no idea. Thanks for the help!

I only need 1.488vcore to run benchmarks, but it wasn't Prime 95 stable. But that doesn't matter to me cause i'm not going to be running it at 4.0GHz 24/7 and a PLL volts of 1.8v, IDK it thats high or not .

On day when I get my Delta 4,600 rpm fan i'll take it to 4.2GHz, I hope my mobo can handle it.

well its not quiet if I am benching no but day-to-day the fans run @ 800/900RPM which keeps my Q6600 @ 3.2ghz at primeload at under 45/50c so nice and quiet

If you want loud look here: http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/sho...php?t=17888722 is my latest little project.

shouldnt matter. at stock speed mine reads 1.250v and at 3.6ghz @ 1.408v it reads 1.250VID irregardless. i may be wrong, however thats what ive observed. if you indeed have a 1.150VID chip, you better learn to overclock like mad because you may have a golden chip right there

under load I have noticed it jumps to 1.2375, which is still good from what I have read.

Cooling wise it is stock for now. I am going to order a OCZ Vendetta 2 I think, reviews I read were good, the TRUE just seems too expensive. But on stock, 3.0Ghz is idle at 35C

Also, in Prime95, where is the stress.txt file? I just unzipped it, ran it, and I got errors pretty quickly. They all say:
FATAL ERROR: Rounding was 0.5, was expecting less than 0.4
    Hardware Failure Detected, consult stress.txt

Any help? I am gonna run memtest while I eat dinner to see if that might be a problem.

Lossen out your memory timmings to ensure that its not the memory at fault... but I very much expect thats a lack of vcore... up it a notch in the BIOS until it passes.. keep an eye on your temps

wow, I am an idiot. I didn't read the voltage right the first time. I set it to 1.1xxx, lol. Bumped it up to 1.4 and ran Prime for a few seconds with no errors, last time I got errors immediately. I only ran it for afew seconds because temps quickly climbed to mid-70's. Now I will definitely order that OCZ Cooler. Maybe the TRUE, i don't know yet...

in reply to the last post, the first screen is idle, second is load

The second pic is your true VID. Looks like you have C1E enabled so that's why the volts drop when idle. Confuses many people so don't fret.

thanks. With that info I went into the BIOS and found it was disabled and then read the manual and found out I think it is actually the Speedstep option. Thanks! 1.2375 is still pretty good though, can't wait to get the new heatsink.
