I have a G0 Q6600 with VID 1.3125 and I can't get 3.6GHz stable for anything. 400x9 refuses to boot into Windows no matter what voltages are set. 401x9 will at least get into Windows but Prime95 Small FFT will cause a BSOD. I'm using a Tuniq Tower 120 for CPU cooling. I guess my P5B Deluxe can't take the stress of the 266 strap at such a high FSB, and my CPU just can't run that high

Well.. sail across the pond to the new land and you'll find stores here are rather courteous...

Hey a 3.8GHz E8400 is not too shabby. At least you won't have to pay the electricity bill we quad core owners do just for gig...

I guess you can't do too much with that VID, but 3.4GHz is not too much of a drop (real world performance-wise) and should be within your reach. BTW what's your batch #/pack date?

A little update... not a good one though... My board is either on a large downhill stretch, or my chip has gone through some serious degradation in basically 2 days...

My voltages were 1.384v vCore LOAD, 1.4v VTT... 24/7
    I went from this:

to not even being stable for more than 3 mins at 1.44-45v. I haven't tested higher.
I think the board popped either a cap or a mosfet, because it seems power regulation is getting out of whack.

My Q6600 has the same problem :

    3.4 with 1.425 in BIOS (1.36-1.39 in CPU-Z)

But to run it at 3.6 , I need 1.525+

Temps are rather high though with hottest core Idle@59C and Load@71C
Maybe because I use Intel Stock HSF

Dunno if this is news to anyone, but I just pulled my bro's Q6600 G0 out of his new Dell and it's a rotten one... SLACR, L811, and it has a VID of 1.325v

OK my L811 is officially an epic phail... 3014MHz (334x9) crapped out after 3 seconds of Prime 95, with vcore upped to 1.3375 (BIOS). The hunt for a good Q6600 begins now; I'm not going back to dual core, not having already owned a 4.1GHz capable E6750.

Well...ordering equipment for my company has it's advantages. Just had a Q6600 come in with a VID of 1.2375 and easily overclocked it to 3600 mhz with 1.36 vcore. In fact, I think I can go even lower on the vcore. It's an L810B if it's worth anything...

PS - My "other" Q6600 needed 1.4375v for 3600 mhz by comparison.

My first Q6600 was an L807 with VID 1.3000v and it needed 1.6v to bench Futuremark at 3.8GHz. Prime would probably have needed more like 1.7v lol. I'm tempted to go for another Q6600 in the hope that it has a nice VID but I could always get an easy 4GHz with an 8400, and it's cheaper.

Just look at the box barcode... if it says SLACR, it's a G0. It should say SLACR on the CPU heatspreader also.

got round to picking up a Corsair HX1000 to replace the junk Thermaltake 750W i was using temporarily. G0 is running with 1.41V vCPU (1.43500V bios) at 3.55Ghz, 8x440. World of difference it made, even 500MHz FSB boots for me now!

Somebody's selling me a Q6600 which has been verified as an L737B. The best batches from this year/week have a VID of 1.2125, but unfortunately there are some 1.3250 VIDs in there... wish me luck lol. I'll get my hands on one of these quads if it's the last thing I do lol.

I know what you mean. The first Q6600 I had was 1.3125v VID, and it clocked worse than a lot of the 1.325s out there.

    My new chip is a 1.2125v VID L743A .

Keep in mind that VID doesn't determine everything. Some 1.2750s clock as well as 1.225/1.2125 and Vice-Versa. But once you get to 1.3v+ VID 99% you'll have a bad Oc'er.

We'll have to see. On my 750i SLI, it ran 1.384v 3.6GHz for a while, but that board tends to cause the CPU to need more voltage. After a while, 3.6GHz started to be unstable... (I think 6-phase power may have died)...
When I get my P5Q in a couple days I'll see how well this chip really clocks.

Hey guys, swapped my E6750 for Q6600 G0 with 1.28750 VID, what should i expect. Cooling wise it's taken care of.
Batch is E10342003, pack date 02/28/08.

3.6GHz on Air 24/7 definitely, 3.8GHz 24/7 possibly with some tweaking, but pretty unlikely.
