Yes, the stock clips do NOT work on the 790i motherboard. If you've already bought them, email support@thermalright.com with your order receipt attached and they will send you replacement clips once they're available. I have not received any yet, but they say 'early August'. If you haven't purchased yet, maybe just wait for the new version.
I hacked mine a bit to make it work. Check out this thread. And this post details the (ugly) way I made it work.

I'm hearing this advice a lot; sounds like a mistake I can't afford to make. I'll be installing the pumps on some modder's mesh risers on top of the implants. That should provide some good flow under/around without completely negating the benefit of vibration dampening.
At this point I have a duty to make the implants work. The case would feel inadequate if I didn't.
