4870 bios mod

Hi guys.. I have just had a succesful bad bios recovery - Thanks to all who made that possible.

Now Im up for more excitement

I am adjusting my clocks in RBE 1.12 but I cant seem to save the file to a .bin - the program only seems to be able to use .rom

Can you guys tell me what I am doing wrong?

EDIT: Nevermind, I figured it out.. Just had to typo .bin :P

I flashed to 790/1000 and lowered my 2D clocks to 200/400 but I am getting flickering screen, so I am going to try a couple of other things..

EDIT: No flickering at 1000MHz mem all the time.. But is there a sweet spot where no flickering is going on?

Ficker happens every time the mem speed changes, and sometimes when core speed changes. GDDR5 power consumption at idle is negligible, so my recomendation is to leave it fixed at your 3D stable clocks all the time and only lower core clock.

BTW still no luck trying to lower voltage via BIOS

just try set the same frequency on all states.
that should work.
1ghz is what the ram is done for so I guess that is a sweetspot, for me at least ;P

You can change whatever you want. I've modified boot RAM speed because when you change it the image flickers. So now RAM is at 1000 always. I've found the sweet spot for this card, 880/1000 on stock volts. Increasing the memory speed has no effect on perfomance, I only get stability problems. Artifacts in ATITool but rock stable in games. And who cares about ATITool, this thing is flying. Maybe I'll do a pencil mod, but I doubt it will be available.

Also I've increased UVD speed to 500MHz, at 300 some VC1 streams have artifacts. I'm on water BTW.

If you click where the mouse pointer is in the picture below it will tell you what the clocks are for the different modes.

Yellow=Low Power
Green=Medium Power
Red=High Power

Hi guys

A year ago I disabled the Fan using RBE, because I had my card watercooled and I saw no point.
Now I replaced the card and I mounted the stock cooler. The fan didn't turn on and I confirmed with GPU-z and the fan was a 0%.


So I quickly re-patched the original unmodified BIOS, but the fan still wont turn on! But this time GPU-Z shows the fan changing as it was heating up. 30% 50% etc.

If manually pump 12v into the fan header, she works.
So what seems to be the problem?

Sorry to bump thread. I have Club3D HD4870 1GB "OC". I changed clock with RBE, but can't change Vgpu. It won't go down in 2D.
Any thoughts?
