Yes, i explained it on some other posts, as here, here and also here

Btw, finally my NB Voltage is upped two notches (1.18V BIOS - 1.205V Measured) and one at FSB (1.32V BIOS - 1.24V Measured) to make F@H stable with SMP and GPU at the same time, also i had to set the CPU GTL Ref to 0.61x to avoid sudden reboots

I can explain further if you need it Thank you

I'm testing DLX BIOS 1102 today, its looking very good, rock solid!

Temp sensors are working fine now.

My previous OC profiles wouldn't boot with 1102, so be sure to start OCing from defaults and manually enter values.

For those that are very cautious about beta bioses, I would say that this one is worth.

    Hello

    I have a problem.

I would like to do 500x8 and 1:1. If I put PL at 10 i need 1,4v at NB.

    I have a 2x2Gb DDR2 1000 Kit (GSKILL PI).

Also, I need to set manually AI Clock Twister to Lighter, Otherwise it's unstable.

Is this problem my memory or my motheboard ?

    Hi guys

So, I started out with a P5Q-E, and tweaked it a lot trying to get Prime95 stable, but just couldn't seem to get there -_-. On top of that it seemed like it didn't like my 4x1GB arrangement on ram.

So, I decided to get a P5Q Deluxe to replace it. Seems like a good board; RAM runs a lot cooler for whatever reason, and Prime95 seems happy.

Anyhow, I'm having a problem with it in which I can't entirely remember if the P5Q-E did the same thing...

When I play a game, such as a mod for HL2, if I get a bunch of sounds going at once, it seems to overwhelm the on-board sound and it just gets progressively cracklier until it fades out to silence, and then it fades back in once the sounds die down. I'm not entirely sure what to do about this

I did have some other problems, but they seem to have departed after I reformatted, which included the sound *not* coming back after it crackled out, my video card giving me a Code 10 (device cannot start), and in gaming I'd get these temporary hangs for about 20 seconds. I haven't seen that crop up *yet*, but I do wonder about it.

So, I'm wondering if this is a driver problem, or a problem with this particular P5Q-D such that I should exchange it for a new one...

Running 0704 if that makes a difference. I could try some other bios if you guys want, but I don't entirely understand the interaction there so I haven't tried every bios out there.

    P5Q-E owners:

is anyone else experiencing a 500 FSB wall with this board? 499 FSB works fine but anything more is unstable. i've tried both the qx9770 and e8400 with no luck. if you're stable over 500 fsb, could you please share your settings with me? thanks in advance

    HELP NEEDED PLEASE

Just had a out of the blue reboot.

On booting back up Windows XP loaded then there is a small pause while the DVDRW etc is read and such then the final parts to loading the OS usually continue to load - but it reboots and ends up in a cycle.

I've had to turn off PC at the PSU switch then back on.. now it will boot ok into the OS.

I've checked event viewer and I can't see anything that is revealing anything.

Anyone have any suggestions if this could be hardware related or OS?

Will my PSU be ok for the hardware below?

    ..

Anyone else having some problems with the onboard audio? Assassins Creed has that problem where I can't hear any of the voice overs unless I turn down audio accelleration 1 notch in dxdiag. I had the exact same problem on my old s939 board but a driver update fixed it.

Anyone else running into this and found a way to fix it without turning down the audio acceleration features?

Anyone else noticed QFan options doesn't do anything? Or is there anything special with Noiseblocker BlackSilent XL2 fans that i'm not aware of?? No matter what i do (QFan Silent/Standard/Turbo/Disabled) it always spins at 1400 rpm. Ugh... I'm using BIOS 0803. And same applies to all other fan pins. I had to use connector adapter with resistor on it to slow down that additional chipset fan...

Then again I'm not responsible if it messes your or anyone elses system

Going to test blend right now and see what happens xD

    Stability is just that.......stable!

Small FFT's means jack imho regardless of what people say. I've seen overclocks pass Small FFT's for hours and hours on end but then fail without doubt when running Large FFT's.

Personally I'll always run Large FFT's to test stability, if it passes Large then I'm satisfied.

An oc may seem fine because it passes Prime Small FFT's...........whether it will pass Large FFT's is another thing though. I'm not alone in this understanding that Large FFT's causes more stress on the overclock than Small, and there are quite a few others around that will test stability using Prime Large FFT's specifically for this reason.

Do a memtest in windows via OCCT ram test or co... could be one of your dimms is flakey... also you gave them real volts in reality, were you aware of that ? if Ram is okay, I would up Vcore to 1.35 and disable Loadline calibration...

I tested the Qfan option for the chassis fans with 1001 and 1102 and it works fine.... tested fans are PAPST GL fan, Zalman 8700 CPU fan, Scythe Flex 1200,... could be that your fans cannot be regulated by the Qfan option... or you need to update to a later bios...

Small FFT's only used for CPU test is okay mate... ram and NB require blend or large pass... though I had OC's fail on large yet had no sign of instability whatsoever in gaming, folding,... no test is bulletproof... you can pass large and run ya first 3dmark and crash...

Stability is like you say : stable at all times... you will need to run multiple programs and co ( superpi, 3d benches, OCCT, and co to test stability) and then daily usage is the best way to see if it's stable for the user and not some test program....

People are abit obsessed by getting the lowest voltage in prime while yet that small extra increment can make a world of difference...

Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved

Remark : They call me Pro Asus Saaya yupp, I agree

Well, BlackSilent XL2 has the tacho line so it should work. I've tried some later BIOS 10xx but it just froze when it should reboot after 5 seconds and when i exit BIOS settings it freezes too. So it's a no go for me. Not sure (yet) why that happens...

Good way to test stability is to run latest real-time strategy games, especially the ones that have masses of units to command.
Strategy games really stress everything from CPU, memory, graphic card and even disk and chipset.

Second good stress test with real conditions are timedemos in Crysis. Heavy graphics and CPU usage really puts some serious load on to system.
Usually if it passes these two it will most probably pass anything.

    Hi guys,

I just got my p5q-e in to replace my trusty old p5k-prem.I set my discs up in raid 0 and it works fine on this board they are samsung sp2504c's.Whats the best bios for this board please? it loaded with 0610(i think now)

I pushed it up to 400fsb,which is my normal oc for my chip which is 3.2ghz/1.35vcore/1066mem.i will give it a couple of days and try it higher,my p5k-prem managed 500x8 with my chip. The vcore was 1.5625v for that.

I am pretty impressed upto now,it seems faster then the prem at the same clock speed.

Is there a specific thread for the p5q-e? also how does the duel bios thing work? can you switch to the second one in case of a problem or is it automatic? and if you flash a newer bios and want to go back to an older one,is it easier than wth the prem?

    thanks.

I try to push q9450 on P5Q (0703 BIOS) and see that the prime is only stable if I set Vcore high.

PLL, VTT do not influence stability at all that I want on particular FSB
    I tried PLL 1.52-1.6 and VTT 1.22-1.38

The wall I reach is 470FSB on Vcore=1.4 LLC=on (the windows loads on 485, but prime is not stabile)
    Some other stable FSBs:
    440 on Vcore=1.3 LLC=on
    450 on Vcore=1.36 LLC=on
    460 on Vcore=1.38 LLC=on

What can I do to go above 470????? I think Vcore=1.4 is already too high ……

I have 1066 mem so it is not a show stopper

    CPU Ratio Setting: 8
    FSB Frequency: 470
    PCI-E Frequency: 100
    DRAM Frequency: 1:1

    CPU Voltage: 1.4
CPU GTL Voltage Reference (0/2): AUTO
    CPU PLL Voltage: 1.58
    FSB Termination Voltage: 1.28
    DRAM Voltage: 1.92
    NB Voltage: 1.26
    NB GTL Reference: AUTO
    SBridge Voltage: 1.2
    PCIE SATA Voltage: AUTO

    Load Line Calibration: Enabled
    CPU Spread Spectrum: Disabled
    PCIE Spread Spectrum: Disabled
    CPU Clock Skew : Normal
    NB Clock Skew : Normal

Uh...just in case you don't already realize this, sounds like your RAM isn't too stable.
If blend if causing your OS to corrupt, well yeah...

Only thing I see is to mess with the GTL voltages, but think you gotta get another CPU that needs less volts... most CPU's need a whole lotta extra volts over a certain speed for a few hundred Mhz more... if you need already 1.36 at 3.6ghz I think it's better to leave it at that speed then...and call it a day...
Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved

Remark : They call me Pro Asus Saaya yupp, I agree

I got the new bios for the p5q-e and the voltage damper option works (in the old bios I didn't notice I had it). It even raises the vcore a bit under load (don't know how safe this is, but it's still lower than what I set in bios).

Does anyone know how can I start the computer with a usb flash drive stuck in, without the mb trying to boot from it (I get an error and I have to restart without the "stick" in)?
