By using the normal inlet the water is directed straight at the core, giving the best heat absorbtion. I'd be curious to know the difference too. It's my understanding (and I hope to be corrected if I'm wrong) that whether the coolant is directed "straight at the core" as you say, or from the side - essentially it's archiving the same net result. I don't think of it like water coming out of a hose but more like an enclosed, pressurized fluid system - despite the fact that it's a very low pressure loop, I believe it still follows the same principle.

The SATA cable is covered in nylon sleeving. Techflex Flexo PET to be exact.
