What it comes down to is that Xs is a privately owned forum and sets it's own rules. People are here as guests and as long as they act within the rules life is wonderfull.
The rules are not that strict but they do exist.
One cardinal rule is that a member can only have one account and if that account is banned because of his actions he doesn't have the right to create another account. Gothr3K created three accounts after his account was banned. This now constitutes hacking legally as it's been explained to me and when made aware and shown facts to back up the claim of hacking, an ISP is legally obligated to remove that persons account.
In the US if a ISP refuses to comply after being shown proof of hacking they can be fined by the FCC and even lose their charter to operate in the state that the incident took place in.

Dang, looks nice, was expecting it to be more.
However the 2.93 and the 3.2ghz model look severely overpriced to me? Unless the 3.2 got an unlocked multi, wtf??

well that's the way that they've always priced.

As they figure out how to make more Nehalems cheaper (i.e increase yield) and do some resteps, we should see lower prices.

I had expected the 2.66 to be 316$. And 540$ for the 2.93.

But else expected prices. Intel aint doing an "X2" pricing.

$150 for an x58 board? don't believe we'd be seeing such prices till spring 2009? if ever?

yeah. the X58 will probably be a higher end board. And lets home Intel doesn't do what it normally does and actually allow some upgrade ability when it comes to motherboards. It would suck to get a x58 board only to have to get a new board in say two years when the next big thing comes out.

It has been reported that nVidia got the QPI license although for non nVidia chipsets, you have to use the nVidia bridge thing. They say that since the chip itself cost $30 that it's doubtful that many people will actually want to use it.

That would be a markup solely for the hell of it. Given the lack of MC and northbridge in the 'northbridge' chip I don't think they'll be much more expensive to manufacture than current boards.

Why would they put an artificially high price on the boards when we can plainly see that they decided to forego doing so on the CPUs? That's just illogical.

I'm still wondering why they don't just price these out of range and sell Yorkies instead, it's not like AMD is going to pull another rabbit out of their hat any time soon the next two years.. Not that I mind of course, this will be sweet! But I think it's curious. :p

check the prices again of the x48 chipset, it's the same high-end range where nehalem will launch

More then just 1 unlocked multi, think of it like phenom. Each core, the QPI, "north bridge" (on die), and memory controller all have their own separate multipliers that will be completely tweakable both up and down on the 3.2 EE part. It's possible that voltage to each will also be separate and individually adjustable.

Ye sure, and Bloomsfields are 1999$ CPUs too. And they would need DDR3-2000 memory too, right?

What was wrong with the x38?

Yepp and even with a $250 board it ends up being about the same price as 3800+ DC after it had been on the market for almost a year and its most popular $150 motherboard We're glad Intel is not doing the same thing AMD did.

Most of us here trashed Intel out and an Intel Fan coined the term Expensive Edition. I like Extremely Expesive model. Unlike many AMD Fans, folks didn't just accept it as OK. Oh and no one here will complain about you thread crapping because they disagree with you.

So even at $300 for the cpu, $250-$300 for the MB, then what for the DDR3-133 memory? 3 sticks at close to $90 each???
You still wind up with a hell of a beast for under $1000.00
Now if those 2666 chips can be OC'd then we really have a winner here.

Now you just had to say this and ruin my day.
Now I have to dig up a grand for that cpu!

Ah, thanks for clarification, I'm not really up to date . So this is truly the EE-equivalent

Tick-tock-tick-tock, would be quite funny to see Intel change their plan in less than 2 cycles or something

    LOL...

New SLI motherboards will feature the NVIDIA nForceŽ 200 SLI processor, Intel Bloomfield CPUs, and Tylersburg (X58) chipsets. The nForce 200 SLI processor features patented SLI technology for graphics bandwidth management and multi-GPU peer-to-peer communications, both required to optimize graphics performance

New SLI motherboards will feature the NVIDIA nForceŽ 200 SLI PCIe bridge/switch, Intel Bloomfield CPUs, and Tylersburg (X58) chipsets. The nForce 200 SLI bridge/switch features nothing extraordinary for graphics bandwidth management and multi-GPU peer-to-peer communications

    I like the next story!

    http://www.bit-tech.net/news/2008/06...t-on-nehalem/1

Intel even dropped an interesting titbit that it was thinking about completely decoupling itself from rated frequencies because of the constant clock changes, however it found customers and retailers were very much against this move. Despite the fact that, internally, the CPU is constantly adjusting its clock speed, from the outside it appears like a fixed frequency due to overall averaging. No doubt this continual variation will surely make our job testing hardware reliably that much more difficult though - it depends on the level of clock changes and the quality of motherboard and power supply.
All of these feature being turned off in the BIOS also might have negative effects on the Processor. The whole page is a good read.

    WOW, in six weeks!
