I downloaded the Intel chipset install utility, the soundmax drivers, Intel matrix manager for my raid HDs, etc. I have not loaded the Asus drivers from the CD. This device has to be something on the motherboard not recognized by XP. Can someone shed any light on what this could be?
Stick your Asus mobo disk in and it will fix itself

Yeah, I sort of figured that. I really don't want to install all the Asus stuff if I can avoid it. Most of the drivers on the CD are old and have been replaced. I thought someone would have run into this and had an idea what to look for. Thanks for the reply though--

Yes, that did it. I didn't install anything but obviously something came off the CD and fixed the problem. Curiosity--does anyone know what device this is related to, what the driver is, etc???

Sorry I didn't just follow your instructions. I've never seen a problem fixed this way.

It is odd but it works

ATK is a virtual device ACPI driver

Confirmed that the ATK driver was added to the system today at around the time I put the CD in the tray and retracted the tray into the computer. Very strange that it automatically loaded this driver.

Thanks for your direction. I figured that someone here must have run into this. Perhaps this would be a good add to the first post.
