For the ram issues, you guys aware that the board overvolts already 0.08... also it's not because the rams did 1200mhz on other boards tht it will do this on P45... also thought that your rams could have degraded ? your settings are not correct, played with the skews ?
And like any new board it might be some child diseases that have to be solved... Time will tell...

I've got a problem. I'm really frustrated over this.
I was on BIOS 0706, running my system @ 3.8Ghz (475 X 8) Prime95 Stable for a week - running various operations and day-to-day use.
On Tuesday I flashed the BIOS to 0901 and immediately my Overclocking failed. No matter what I did & tried, I just couldn't get back to my 3.8Ghz. It worked fine on BIOS Defaults, but Overclocking just wouldn't work.
Last evening I Flashed down to 0803, and still the same results. I can't get back up to 3.8Ghz at all. I'm using the EXACT SAME settings that I had before - I had them jotted down in a Spreadsheet so I know I'm not missing anything. The BIOS Settings are a replica of my settings running 3.8Ghz with BIOS 0706.
How come those exact same settings won't work anymore? I don't understand this. I haven't tried going back to BIOS 0706 but I will later tonight. But my problem is - even if it does work on 0706 - does this mean I can never upgrade my BIOS again? Why?
Doesn't make any sense to me.
Any word of advice? Am I missing something?

Oh yes Leeghoofd, i know that the RAM overvolts 0.08, that's why i keep her at 2.12V on BIOS cause 2.20V is the voltage it's rated to do 1066 5-5-5-15-25, also the RAM is on the QVL ... and i highly doubt it's degraded cause it's just a week old and it's been active cooled
Amazingly, at this voltage, my RAM was also able to boot at 1130-1185 and 1200 so i kept trying. I was able to complete almost a pass of memory test and do some benches on windows with vRAM at 2.18V (2.26V real) for 1200Mhz and was fine, even on light tasks the system ran well ... but Prime95 Blend Mode or OCCT RAM Test failed within seconds, i tried to up some other voltages to +0.1V +0.2V but same error and sometimes even worst (wasn't booting to Windows). I also tried to play with the timings, setting tRFC to 55 and loosening some other ones, setting PL to 10-11 instead of 8 ... played with CPU GTL Ref Voltage, CPU Clock Skew and NB Clock Skew but no luck at all. It's always failing when i try to stabilize 500x8 with 1200Mhz on memory ... or even on my stable 445x9 when i try 1186Mhz.
What's more surprising to me is i'm 100% Prime95 Blend & F@H stable at 445x9 (4Ghz) with 1115Mhz (5-5-5-15-25 PL 8) with these tiny voltages (i had to up a notch for being F@H stable, on prime they were lower):
vRAM: 2.14V (2.22V measured with DMM)
vPLL: 1.52V (1.55V measured with DMM)
vFSB: 1.30V (1.22V measured with DMM)
vNB: 1.14V (1.17V measured with DMM)
The only skews i can't play with are the DRAM ones since i see it's only a BIOS feature for the Deluxe, maybe i was wrong trying things ... but i tried almost everything, jVIDIA also helped me to this but nothing did the trick, that's why makes me think it's a chipset and/or BIOS issue more than other thing (or maybe i'm still missing some setting, i don't rule out that since i'm still a noob on the OC world).
And yes, I know this is a so young board, and also, a younger chipset that has to be hard studied and implemented for the BIOS developer's and they're not machines, cause all the other things are working well but this, i'm patient but i'm affraid since it seems more a direct hardware issue related to P45 more than a BIOS fix. Maybe we'll have to wait for a 2nd revision of the chipset? I really hope not and still hoping a bios will fix that cause really ... i don't want to buy another board now

I thought I will just post in here, even though I own a P5Q-E, but that is very similar to the P5Q Deluxe, right?
Can anyone give me some settings to start with overclocking my E8400?
I got it to 9x432 yesterday, stable into Windows, by just adjusting FSB and Vcore to 1.33Volt, but I want to get a lot more (I'm on air right now, but I will move to watercooling once I got my case finished...)
I read a lot about those GTL-Voltages, and that they will have to be "found" for each CPU/mainboard, but a few hints on where to start would be very nice!!

To everybody that flashes beta biosses a general warning :
For 0901 bios : If you read pmp's reply to my post of the 0901 that was leaked and not a release by our usual source (which to me raised my eyebrows) There were still flaws in it and pmp warned us that he didn't wanted to release this bios...
Thing I noted immediately that with 0803 and 0901 compared to older biosses that I needed other setings than the 7 series to be stable... maybe the higher bandwith , decreased latency has got something to do with it... we got several flaws : HD issues & incompatability, CPU overtemp errors, seems still some rams that are limited according users...
I just test them alphas (if allowed) and I take the risk for borking my own board. Pmp is the master of bios design and we give him feedback on issues we encounter because we are all looking for best performance. I test for stability, general usage,...., but releases follow up pretty quickly ( which is nice ) and you have tounderstand it's pretty impossible to test all sorts of ram/FSB combo's... as I'm limited ofcourse by the hardware I own and ofcourse limited in time too...
Secondly beta is beta and we have to be aware that some biosses can be zero improvement for some, for others it's the next big thing... I wrecked a perfectly good striker due to a leaked alpha... it updated the firmware of my chipsets... board was never the same again afterwards... the damage was done...
For my rig, with some alterations my OC with the Wolf is still stable 500FSB @1000/1200 ram and 400/450FSB @ 1066/1081 with the QX...I'm limiting my OC's daily at 4Ghz --> 4.5 for benching... Also remember with 45nm CPU's that more voltage isn't always required and some CPU's feel better with some voltages reduced instead of raised...
Pmp is working his ass of to get this P45 under control (respect mate, if you ever visit my humble country hopefully we can have some brewskis)... believe me guys this DDR2 release is a smooth ride compared to the DDR3 variant... we can run Oc'ed, but have to limit ourselves a bit... have a look in the P5Q3 thread... if you dare

Updating status.
Later on, last night I had a couple reboots in 3D app with those setings.
Today the macchine didn't start, cleared Cmos, reloaded values, reflashed and nothing did it. It won't boot with same setings that worked yesterday
For now I think I will chill out and leave dividers alone for a while, tonight I will seek for the best bandwidth I can get with 1:1.
Leeghoofd, I respect all the hard work, it's amazing good job. I'm used to this kind of stuff and I Know this board has lots of potential. But right now, I think that those that need stability should run 1:1 and take the best out of it.

I'll revert back to 0706 today and pop out the battery you're talking about as well and see if I can get back to my old OC. I always feared beta bios' and I have a very bad feeling in the bottom of my pit that 0901 didn't savvy well with my board.
PS: Lee ... not what I want to hear, but you speak the truth mate. If by some fortune my old settings work on 0706, I'll be skeptic to flash my BIOS ever again in my whole life.

The higher the frequency on the ram the more noise there will be. P45 seems to suffer from noise a lot worse than say X48.
Now that does not mean a board can not be built that takes this into consideration, Biostar look to have a nice board that does well... BUT and I keep saying this... it, and all the other DDR2 boards do well with 2x1GB modules only on the whole.
Pretty much as soon as 2GB modules are used it starts getting hard to clock.
If noise is the issue, clock and DQ/DQS alignment will help, so playing with skews will help at higher frequencies, the issue is only so much, after that it comes down to hardware the board has been built with.
being honest, wise people looking for performance will stay X48/790i for DDR3 and X48/P35/780i for DDR2 if 4GB and up is to be used, for 2GB P45 is ok as long as you understand the limits.

@Leeghoofd I must say i had these memory "issues" (as the 500x8 issue and trying to run it on 1:1) even on 0703 (Official from ASUS site) & 0708 releases, that's why i tried 0901, i thought this could be solved with that release so i flashed ... i didn't know it was "leaked"... though all of this i must say all the other settings that were working on 07* series (for keeping my OC stable) are also working on 0901, at least on my P5Q-Pro.
And i know what you say that 45nm sometimes loves "lower" voltages and playing with GTL's to achieve stability, i tested it on an DFI X38 board and it was definitely true ... before it died after a bad bios flash (a beta one)
Of course everybody has limited resources, of hardware and mostly due to time, i know every CPU, every chipset and every RAM IC is different ... and they can't be tested all, but it's so strange i can keep my RAM on 1115Mhz with almost stock volts and i can't stabilize it on 70Mhz more with +0.1, it's just that, i'm not complaining ... cause of course i can "survive" with 1115Mhz instead of 1186Mhz, that's not a problem for me, i'm just sharing it cause it seems strange. And yes, i know all the problems with the P5Q3, i have a couple of friends owning it ... and it's clearly worst on the RAM thing.
As you say, let's hope pmp surprise us with a "kick-ass" BIOS for the P5Q* on DDR2 version, at least, the working progress is being amazing and so fast. Definitely, thanks to all BIOS developer's as well as tester's (we included) ... cause sharing all these issues can give them some light to solve them.

With this mobo I can't boot with any of Linux bootable DVD or CD (sabayon-Gentoo - Debian )
appears "no cdrom found" and the follow screen
-set SATA mode to AHCI and IDE , nothing
-Change DVD-ROM and cable

Running 901 bios here too. Only issue is it takes a while to get into any kind of sensor monitoring software (i.e everest osd takes about 10 seconds to fire up - does anyone else have this issue). CPU temp on mine is fine, it reads around 1-2 degress higher than my hottest core in realtemp which is fair enough. What settings did you have to change to get stable with 901? Same settings i used for 704 are also stable in 901 for me. Im running 500fsb 1:1 and getting around around 9500 read, 10200 write, 10500 copy and 52.9 latency in Everest bandwidth test running PL9 with all pull ins enabled.

Alright, I'm probably the only nub here still on 0605 BIOS, what should I flash to. Also I have to figure out HOW to do this, I know I download the .rom file onto a flash drive, then I'm assuming I enter that EZ Flash app in the BIOS. Anyways I'm just looking for a 3.9Ghz clock with my e8400 and am running into stability issues. I've gotten it to go 4+ hours at 8.5 460FSB with 5:6 CL5, but it still doesn't do the 10 I'd expect. I even upped my vcore to 1.3625 or w/e and my VVT to 1.30 (in the yellow on0es). I many just drop down to 8.5 x 450FSB and just chill, the gains are so minimal. I've often times found it that Vista boots slower with these OC's...

Well I decided to get this board coming from an Abit Ip 35 pro and all I can say is what a difference this board has made. I used to get the occasional bsod on the other motherboard ,but no on this one . So far I have been very happy. He is a screenshot on how far I have come with this overclock. The load temps are a bit high but Im ok with it. I usually idle 39-40c and max is doesnt go over 65c for gaming so Im satisfied.
This is with bios 0901 which I have found to be the most stable meaning I don't have to reset cmos if overclock fails like the rest of the bios I tried.

About the tips:
Don't keep voltage settings at auto as the board can overvolt a lot.
Keep performance level at auto while you are raising fsb
also good idea to keep memory fsb at auto or set it to safe value after CPU fsb (got few BSODs while windows was loading because I didn't notice DRAM fsb raised with CPU fsb)
If BIOS wont post try to adjust voltages or fsb
