well...that should not have made any difference what bios is installed when flashing to another version bios....something went wrong with that flash....just make sure you are not overclocking...if you haven't up to now, read my flashing guided (link in signature).

if you are doing a floppy flash, it shouldn't take more than 2-3 minutes to complete the flash...if you are doing it by USB flash drive, it should be over in less than 60 seconds.

yeah something was definitely wrong, because it would hang at "please wait" if I tried going straight to Bios17, the floppy drive would be on standby. So I tried going to 16 official release which worked then from their to 17. I don't know what happened but it worked so that's all that matters to me.

I flashed to Bios Version 14, following Ace-A-Rue's rules with the USB flash method ... all went well

Now ... here are my 24/7 settings which were stable on my UBUNTU 8.04 setup but not during the installation of Windows (I have noticed that stable overclocks often fail Windows setups, anyway). The thing is that when I formatted the hard disk and the Windows installation started copying files, it froze at various stages (69%, 85%) and said it could not read from the DVD ... when I pushed the reset button the hard drive could not be detected anymore during post. The only fix was to run the pc off and back on again

This were my BIOS settings for 500X7=3500mhz on a c2d6300 with 4X1gb Crucial Ballistix D9GMH, actively cooled by an OCZ cooler

CPU Core Voltage = 1.4850
DDR2 Voltage = 2.100V
CPU VTT 1.2V Voltage = 1.31
MCH 1.25V Voltage = 1.48V
ICH 1.05V Voltage = 1.09V
ICHIO 1.5V Voltage = 1.65
DDR2 Reference Voltage = 0%
CPU GTLREF 0&2 = 67%
CPU GTLREF 1&3 = 67%

Memory was set at 5-5-5-15 with all other settings at auto & 2T

Please suggest any tweaks/changes to the above settings. Just a note : I could pass memtest all day with the above settings and Ubuntu ran like a dream (video encoding, mp3's, movies) BUT keep in mind the UBUNTU setup was on a SCSI controller, the SATA ports of the IP35-Pro were never used (DVD ran of the IDE controller)

just noticed C1E&EIST are broken in BIOS 17

strange did a reflash and hard cmos reset via battery removal and C1E works fine again

Its a WinXP Pro with service pack 3 splipstreamed Ace.

Settings seems to work now after the install but I have idle temps of 50-52 celcius. I am using an Ultra 120 with a push-pull config

i installed the 17.b04.zzz modded bios...so far your 3.5 beta Memset will not work at all on vista64 SP1...it opens but i cannot uncheck "auto" and i cannot expand the page to show both channels "A" and "B".

in the bios i have PL level 8 set but it shows PL level 7.

i tried your 3.4 version of Memset and it open and allows me to uncheck "Auto" and expand the page to see both "A" & "B" channels.

i tried to make changes to PL (it says the change was made) but there is no difference when i run Everest memory bench.

EDIT:...ok, figured it out finally after reading up so more...i had to have the "Network" chipsets enabled along with "Invoke agents" also enabled...i can now adjust my PL in the bios and windows and Memset 3.5 works perfectly

Mine too. I just DL'ed it last night and it seems stuck. I'm getting "7" on Performance Level though.

Edit: BTW - I'm getting similar temps as you in Prime95 (Speedfan = 53C, RealTemp = Core 0: 47C/Core 1: 52C, Ambient: 77F) with 3.66Ghz & RAM @ DDR2-1099/1.94v.

to tell the truth in the past 4 weeks (12 hours/day) i have done literally 100's of configs and kept them all on paper, often scribbles going in all directions and on both sides of the paper!

will go through the large stack of paper 'notes' in small towers around desk and post config settings that gave performance=6.

Im sure many overclockers out there know exactly what im talking about.

aztec : im using realtemp 2.68 as its the most accurate for quads and now shows up the swapped core bug in intel quads. (dont even ask me to load Uguru software although i have the Uguru clock installed) BTW I also tried CPUID but was a little concerned when it said my cpu was @ 295c/400+f

Update : IT lost the hard disk again at 400X7 with little voltage increases to everything compared to stock BIOS settings

This time the Windows installation went corrupt ... I'm suspecting it might be the Raptor-X's fault and not the mobo's

It did this when i was unraring a big file, rebooted and then it could not detect the hard disk anymore. This time with BIOS 14 so I dont really know the source of all this problems

My P35Pro died yesterday - first a Windows freeze, and when I powered down the board wouldn't power back up.

Pulled everything off the board, but the red LED that indicates power is on is flashing on and off and there's no LCD readout. Tried another PS but same flashing LED.

I suspect that the power regulator is gone, and the flashing LED is just the PS overcurrent protection going on and off.

Anyone seen anything like this - before the RMA goes in?

Since I upgraded to Vista 64bit Ultimate I have been having a nightmare of a time with random shut downs and crashes. Windows has been reporting them as NVIDIA driver issues.

I have tried driver cleaner pro and many 64bit drivers and just this week a fresh format new windows install and fresh drivers and its still crashing...

So I started to assume it was hardware based problem. So on a whim I installed XP 64bit and amazingly I am 100% rock solid stable.

This has all been done at stock for testing and I have BIOS 14 in right now.

I am wondering if this is possibly a MOBO related problem or not.


Also EVGA tech said that sometimes VISTA reports RAM problems as video card error so I have run memtest and at stock the g.skill is error free but with the slightest overclock the RAM fails test 6.

I hear ya...I do much the same thing on o/c notes. Trying to keep them in some order is another thing. Let me know if you find it.

I updated to bios 14. CPU-Z however says bios10 for some reason. On the other hand uguru shows my cpu idle temps 10c lower (from 36c idle to 26c idle). I'm not sure what to make of that: here's what the inside looks like.

Hey Art, I got level '6' @ 440 x 8.5 & 1:1:25, same volts, timings, etc. No errors/warnings in Prime blend for a few hours at least and temps still in low 50's. Probably not a bad 'everyday' setting if it's long-term stable.

is 1.44v actual vcore in windows or set Vcore in the bios?

1.44v in bios. May about 1.43v idle in windows and 1.40 - 1.41v load. Well, that's what everest and cpu-z says. Don't have uguru installed.

cpuz is usually off

check your bios for vcore, you install uguru..uguru ispretty darn accurate

You guys haven't always run PL 6? Then again, these are my Dominator C3FD....My Team run PL5. I'll have to look into this unlocking the MCHBAR thing.
