But at least it doesn't lock the PC up, i can exit the game and corruption goes once i'm back to desktop

Done a fair bit of reading on it, has anyone had any luck fixing it with drivers ?

What drivers are you using? for my gf7 and 8 series cards I use either 169.21 or 169.28 in xp64. I think there's really nothing special in any of the 170 series drivers for older cards.
